Happiness Is The Key To Life
“Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”
Everybody has a different path to finding happiness in life but each one of us goes about it in their own unique way. Becoming happy is a choice we all make and if we choose to be happy and believe in happiness, our mind will create an image which leads to a greater self awareness.
Those that express love to others are much happier in their quest to find happiness. Research has found that health and living with a purpose are very high on the list of things that make us happy. When you actively try to enjoy life instead of waiting for it to come, that purpose becomes a key element in becoming a happy person.
This is where mental toughness comes into play. To be happy, you need to make sure you remember the sadness so you can enjoy the happiness. You’ve got to be tough minded so that whatever comes your way you can handle it. If you can’t find help.
If happiness is your goal, open your heart and focus on what it takes to bring happiness into your life. Give yourself a fighting chance to appreciate life instead of making excuses and focusing on the bad parts.
When we live a life geared towards happiness, we can forget the problems we have and focus on what really matters. Unconditional love can transform us and bring us closer to God which is the ultimate happiness. In Psalm 37:4, it is written, “Delight yourself in the way of the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
What Is The Key To Happiness?
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”
If happiness is the key to life then what is the key to happiness?
Our mindset plays a big part of whether we are happy or not. In fact, the more positive a person you are, the easier it is to find happiness. Your happiness will never been based on what you have but how much you give. Those positive feelings lead to helping others and that brings more love into your life.
Paramahansa Yogananda, one of the greatest Indian Yogis of the 20th century states, “The greatest way to create happiness for yourself is not to allow sense lures or bad habits to control you, but to be a stern ruler of your habits and appetites. Just as you cannot satisfy your own hunger by feeding another person, so you cannot find happiness in satisfying the over-demands of your senses. Do not spend all your time looking for things to make you happy.”
Each of us looks for happiness and tries to create our own brand of happiness but we forget we must first change our way of thinking and control ourselves so we don’t put ourselves in bad situations. We get stressed out and let our bad decisions rule our lives. Paramahansa Yogananda goes on to say, “Be contented always, equally in your struggle for prosperity and in your attainment of it. You can be a King of Happiness in a tattered cottage, or you can be a tortured victim of unhappiness in a palace.”
Finding the Key To Happiness
Social interaction is a key ingredient in leading us to happiness and research backs this up. According to Ron Breazeale Ph. D. in his article, The Role of the Brain in Happiness, he uses research from Dr. Richard Davidson of the University of Wisconsin whose book, “The Emotional Life of Your “ (2012). In the book, Davidson describes the chemical interactions between the limbic system and the frontal lobes which show a direct correlation between emotion and how we think. Our thoughts play a big role in determining how and when we feel happy but what is even more of a eye opener is the fact that we can use our thoughts to physically influence how we feel. This power is so important in using positive thinking to bring about a change of emotion which can change our lives for the better.
We tend to look at happiness as either or equation but finding happiness is not what happens if everything turns out exactly how we want it. Being grateful is the life’s great leveler and changes how we view the idea of happiness. Finding gratitude in everything we do raises our level of happiness and could be one of the biggest keys to living a happy and contented life.
Keeping Happy During Times Of Trouble
“Tough times never last, but tough people do.”
Robert H. Schuller
If gratitude is a main cog in raising our awareness of how to be happy, then compassion is the way to keep happy during the tough times that invade our lives. Both compassion for ourselves as well as others leads to appreciation. That appreciation helps us cope with life’s pitfalls. The blueprint for being happy rests on how we deal with stressful situations.
If you equate happiness with success, you need to rethink your life. Happiness should be the springboard to achieving success., not the other way around. If you don’t become the success you envision for yourself does that mean you can’t be happy? It’s in the pursuit of happiness that we find success. When you are happy, that’s a great way to live.
