How Do You Define What Happiness Means To You?

What Is The Real Definition Of Happiness?

Happiness means something different to everyone but as its very root, finding happiness is what everyone is searching for. The very definition of being happy is to be satisfied, contented, and fulfilled in whatever you are doing at the moment.

But happiness is not defined by momentary pleasures. We want to go much deeper than that. We want something that is sustainable, something that stays with us and something we can access at any time we want.

Now, let’s take a look at the literal definition from Webster’s dictionary to see how it defines happiness.

It states that happiness is:

  1. A : a state of well-being and contentment : joy
  2. B : a pleasurable or satisfying experience

Definition A is important to you to understand as it uses a keyword that most people do not fully understand… that being joy!

Joy is something most people think of as a synonym for happiness but it gets to the heart of what we feel as opposed to what we experience.

Joy is not about pleasure or stimulation that makes us feel good. Joy is the embodiment of love. It is what’s left over when pleasure and contentment are gone. It’s what God has given to us as a gift that we must cherish.

In Lamentations 3:17, we feel the heartache when we lose our happiness. “My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is.”

But true happiness comes from God. Despite all the problems, Romans 12:12 tells us, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

According to author Donna Labermeier in an article she wrote entitled, “Do We Really Know What Joy Is?” she speaks of the true nature of joy when she writes, “Joy is a sustained, elevated, super-fast vibrating energy that most people are not at all used to. A state of true joy reveals an eagerness and enthusiasm for life that many dear souls have probably never felt before.”Is that the kind of happiness you seek?”

Joy takes happiness to a new level. It’s what is inside of each and every person yet most don’t know how to access it and even worse, don’t know how to enjoy it

What Does Happiness Mean To You?

Everyone wants to be happy but do you know what happiness means to you? Do you know what it takes to make you happy?

Are you living the life you imagined you’d live? So often, we look back on our lives and wish we could have done things differently. We wished we could have avoided the painful things we encountered while enjoying the little things a bit more.

King Solomon built some of the most beautiful projects known to man. He had at his disposal all the money a man could ever want and used it to bring happiness to himself. After taking a serious look at what he had built, he lamented on the sheer waste of it all as he finally understood the principal of searching for joy when it was already there through the love of God.

“Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done… and found it to be nothing but vanity and a striving after wind” Ecc 2:1-12.

This is how many of us look at happiness. We gather up riches here on earth yet none of it makes sense until we take a long look at our lives and what these possessions have given us.

What’s truly important to you?

What is the one thing you can’t live without? Is it love? Friendship? Your family? Your job? Whatever it is, that’s what you will focus on. If you focus on things that don’t fulfill you then they will take up valuable real estate in your heart and will waste your time, money, and your feelings.

How To Find Lasting Joy In Your Happiness

Happiness is like a game for most people. They go on a mad scramble to find lasting happiness yet they never finish playing the game. All the things they think will make them happy are disposable and move on to the next thing they think will fill their hearts.

Let me tell you why all of this is in vain. In fact, let God tell you in his own words and you will see why joy is what you are really lacking.

Treasures in Heaven

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Joy is short-lived if it is done with selfish intent. Real joy comes from investing ourselves in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Dr. D. W. Ekstrand brings this out beautifully in his article, “Genuine Joy And Happiness” when he writes, “A Christian’s joy can be just as short-lived as anyone else’s, if he seeks it for itself as the world does. Biblical joy is a fruit, a byproduct, an additional blessings, not an end in itself. It flows into and grows within the person whose life and energies are not focused merely on being “joyful.” The lives of those in this world who so zealously chase after it prove this point. If they are still chasing it, then they must not have it!  On the other hand, when we follow God’s prescription, He feeds us in such a way that we experience real joy and satisfaction.”

How are you feeding this joy? Is it with the fruit of the world or the fruit of the Holy Spirit?

If everything you do comes from a genuine love of the Jesus Christ then joy will follow you all the days of your life. You will not descend into the depths of debauchery but be lifted through the unconditional love that God shows you.

It’s so easy to get caught up in this world. The problems, the acrimony, the greed, the jealousy, and the gossip. We waste so much of our time on things that bring no sense of joy. Instead, we let life and society dictate our own brand of happiness.

Think about it. Are you able to enjoy yourself to the fullest knowing that someone might make a comment on what you are doing that you may not like or appreciate? Does what others say or believe influence your happiness?

I hope not! But let’s be real here for a minute. If you enjoy things that others don’t, doesn’t it make sense to to find others that enjoy the same things you do and enjoy it with them? Why let others spoil what gives you pleasure.

Let me give you an example of this. When my brother and I hit our early twenties, we finally had enough money to go to Comic Con in New York City. Comic Con is a festive held in both New York City and San Diego where fans of comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies and science fiction go to enjoy themselves. Some people dress up as their favorite movie and comic characters while others go to soak up the atmosphere.

As we are big science fiction fans (Star Wars and Star Trek to name just a few), we went to meet some of the cast members and enjoy the festivities. When we told some people we were going, we got some funny looks and one person even commented, “Why would you want to go there for?”

I will never forget that. They tried to spoil our fun because they thought it was stupid to waste our time there. Happiness doesn’t depend on what others think or believe. It should come from deep inside. As a writer, I wanted to go to understand what made these movies, shows and characters click. It was a chance to meet our heroes.

God knows what makes us happy and puts things in our life to enjoy them. He wants us to be happy. He doesn’t want us depressed or feeling like life is a drag. We tend to forget what God wants for us and go off and do our own thing until we realize God has other plans for us.

Going to Comic Con inspired me to take my writing to another level. God was leading me in a direction and I followed. Why is this important?

We read it in Psalm 16:11 where David encourages us to seek out God’s joy. “Thou will make known to me the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy; in Thy right hand there are pleasures forever”

Now, does that sound like a God who doesn’t care whether we’re happy or not? Of course not. He is guiding us and watching over us all the time and through this, He offers his joy which brings us the true pleasures of the world.

Where would you be if you had to do everything yourself and no help whatsoever in accomplishing your goals in life?

Probably not too happy but when you allow Jesus to guide you and show you what real joy is then you can experience happiness in a brand new light.

The Purpose Of Joy

Without joy, it would be a pretty boring world wouldn’t it? Day after day, slogging through life without any hope at all. That’s not what God offers us.

In fact, there’s a purpose to God’s joy. He want to bring us close to Himself where He can bring out the best in us. Pastor Dr. D. W. Ekstrand says it best when he writes, “Biblical joy is inseparable from our relationship with God, and springs from our knowledge and understanding of the purpose of life and the hope of living with God for eternity when there will be joy evermore. Joy is the sign that life has found its purpose and its reason for being.”

Have Passion

From the article, “Happiness Is a Choice You Make: Lessons from a Year Among the Oldest Old” author Eric Barker talks about happiness and purpose. He states, “People who have purpose in life are not only happier and healthier —  they live longer.” He goes on to say, “What drives you? What inspires you? Feed that now and reap the benefits later. Don’t have hobbies — have passions.”

We are all equipped to be happy. The problem is, we don’t give in to our passions we give up our passions to make a living. It’s when we combine them that we find our happiness and the joy of life.

“Many people are alive but don’t touch the miracle of being alive.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

That quote by Thich Nhat Hanh explains why most of us are not happy and don’t feel the joy in our life. You’ve got to live to be happy. Happy people enjoy the life God has given them. They are not just actors in their life but actually live out their passions.

If you want to define happiness and joy, it all comes down to this: Joy is a response to God’s word. Pastor Rick Warren chimes in with his definition which I like the best because it brings us to the heart of how joy works.

“Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in every situation.”

What is your definition of happiness and joy and are you a living example of it?

5 Amazing Ways God Can Help You Start Living A Happier Life

Finding Happiness in Life Despite The Ups And Downs

Everyone wants the dream of living a happy and healthy life without all the stress and grief that comes with it. Unfortunately, not everyone is equipped to handle the everyday problems that make finding happiness a real chore.

Even if your life seems to be stuck in a rut where everything is going wrong, there are ways to instantly boost your level of happiness and enjoy what life has to offer you. You may not be able to get rid of all the stress that’s affecting you but there are ways to keep stressful feelings and reactions at bay so it doesn’t ruin your happiness and severely affect your lifestyle.

Regardless of your circumstances, joy is truly present in your life… you just have to look for it. God has given you everything you need to be happy but for some of us, we forget many of those blessings when we go through tough times.

For me, I look to Jesus first for my joy even in the midst of all my pain and suffering. Having nearly died in two separate car accidents I am grateful for the life I have now despite the physical pain from the 2 major back operations I’ve had to endure.

Life isn’t easy but that doesn’t mean happiness should be cast aside. As Christians, God has called us to lead happy lives filled with His joy not the fleeting happiness of a corrupt society that has very little to offer.

In this article, you’ll discover 5 amazing ways God can help you start living a happier life right now. And, you’ll be better off for learning this in the long run.

#1 Way To Living A Happier Life

1- It’s Not What’s On The Outside But What’s On The Inside That Really Matters

Remember, people care about you because of you, not what you own. All the money in the world cannot buy you lasting happiness if God is not part of who you are. Most of the time, we try to fill that void in our lives by buying things to make us happy but after awhile, those things lose their appeal. All you’re really doing is throwing money down that void trying to fill it with worthless junk.

Look at all the rich and powerful celebrities over the years who have died from overdosing on drugs, chasing fame and got caught up in a life filled with sex, booze and lost everything they had. They are lost souls who put their salvation in the hands of the devil and ended up with nothing.

If you base your happiness on strictly what you own, you’re losing a long and painful battle. Too many people are slaves to the newest technology, designer clothes and latest cars, all to make themselves look good to other people. However, people like you for the person you are on the inside.

Think about all the good you have done for others. How you’ve treated them over the years and been there when they needed you. Was it because of your money? Of course not. Friendship doesn’t care about money. It goes much deeper than that.

So, what does God say about this?

In Luke 12:15, we are told about greed. “Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Once again we read it in Proverbs 23:4-5 where it states, “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”

It’s not about how much money but what you do with it that is important to God. Money and possessions are worthless it you are not a good steward with them. You have two choices to decide…

  1. Let money rule over you
  2. You rule over your money

God has given you so many things to be grateful for so enjoy what he has given. His unconditional love is filled with all the joy you need.

Let go of the notion that your worth depends upon your possessions and look to God for your true version of happiness.

#2 Way To Living A Happier Life

2- Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

“Comparison is the theft of joy.”
Theodore Roosevelt

Want the secret to happiness? Stop comparing yourself to others because you’ll always feel like you cannot measure up. This is a surefire way to ruin your happiness and live a life filled with lack. We all have problems and even though no two people are the same, we have this bad habit of comparing ourselves and our lives to others without knowing what these people are going through. The problem is, it’s like comparing apples and bananas. They’re both fruits but that’s where the comparison ends.

God doesn’t want us to worry about what others have. According to author Cindi McMenamin, “Comparison is an ugly game. Jesus warned us not to get caught up in it, especially when it came to how we “look” religiously.”

This game is never played on equal footing. Remember the Pharisee in Luke 18:9-14? He compared himself to the tax collector but Jesus put him in his place when he said:

“To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

We all have different strengths and weaknesses and because of this we must recognize the opportunity to practice humility when it presents itself. We’re never going to live up to our version of others so we need to rely on God’s opinion rather than the opinion of others.

Comparison all based on our insecurities and when we let those insecurities run wild, that’s when jealousy, self pity and greed come into play.

Cindi goes on to explain why we compare when she states, “You and I compare ourselves to others out of our insecurity. We hope to feel better about ourselves if we end up ahead. We also compare because of our competitive or perfectionist nature – we have the desire to be right, perfect, or just better than another. But comparison rarely leads to humility, which pleases God and saves us the stress of constantly running our measuring stick over others in front of us.”

When you stop comparing yourself to others, you’ll notice you become a much happier person.

3- Do What You Love

Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Those 17 words can be the difference between a life of mediocrity that you hate doing and a life filled with happiness and excitement.

God has given each one of us certain gifts and talents that when used properly, can do His will on earth while helping us fuel our passions. Your job, as Mission Impossible states, should you choose/decide to accept it, is to find a passion that both excites you and uses your gifts for the glory of God.

According to author Ruth Zive, “Our truest passions emerge in childhood, only to be squelched by real life pressures. So think about what you loved long before you had to worry about your career. Getting back in touch with those instincts is an important step in finding your passion.”

Studies show that happy people tend to earn higher salaries because they have jobs they love. I know the job you have now pays the bills but what is your heart aching to do? What is it that makes you get up in the morning and motivates you?

You might think you’re stuck with what you have but the yearning you have is telling you something. Everyone who went into business and did something they loved had a job to pay the bills but they broke out of their comfort zone and made things happen. Success and happiness go together but if you aren’t doing what you love you’ll get neither of them.

Everyday life experiences are where you learn how to live but you can’t live in a classroom all your life. There’s comes a time when you have to get out on your own and ultimately do what makes you happy.

If you listen to what others say you’ll stay stuck in the same old grind but listen to Steve Jobs when he says, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”

Don’t settle for mediocrity. That’s where unhappiness lives. Make the decision to do what you love and happiness and joy will always challenge you to be a better person!

#4 Way To Living A Happier Life

4- Be A More Prayerful Person

Are you surprised by this selection? Most people only pray when they’re going through tough times but God asks us to pray unceasingly. We read this in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 where is states,Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

If God asks you to rejoice and pray then it must be important. The happiness comes in communion with God. Whenever you’re down, seek out His compassion and His love. It’s there that you will find His joy.

Here’s a quote from St. Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney, the Cure of Ars that explains the point like no other.

“Prayer is nothing else than union with God. When our heart is pure and united to God, we feel within ourselves a joy, a sweetness that inebriates, a light that dazzles us. In this intimate union God and the soul are like two pieces of wax melted together; they cannot be separated. This union of God with His little creature is a most beautiful thing. It is a happiness that we cannot understand. . . God, in His goodness, has permitted us to speak to Him. Our prayer is an incense which He receives with extreme pleasure.”

When you trust God, it gives you a level of satisfaction you can’t anywhere else. It’s in your daily habit of prayer that you realize how happy God makes you feel, how joyful it feels to be unconditionally loved and to be able to talk to the creator who actually cares what’s going in your life.

Even as everything around you is falling apart, God is watching over you and that is something you can count on..

So what does joy mean to you?

Michael Youssef, Ph.D. says that “Joy is a spiritual result of our focus on God. It is tied to our salvation and our walk with Christ.”

Studies have shown that those who pray are much happier people that is why your prayer life is critical to your state of happiness.

#5 Way To Living A Happier Life

5- Be In A Permanent Fellowship With God

Happiness is in God’s nature. He wants you to be happy and knows what is best for you. Too often, we think we know what will make us happy but in the long run, we end us sad and unfulfilled. We give into sin to experience momentary happiness but that’s not where true happiness lives.

Wes Adams says that “We are exchanging the happiness and joy of fellowship with God for the “fleeting pleasures of sin”

This is why you need to take a big stand on what actually makes you happy. Is it what God wants of you? Is it what God has planned for you.

Just because it makes you feel good doesn’t mean it’s right for you. When we veer away from real fellowship with God we’re like a car who loses a wheel and goes off the road. We need God to fix that tire and bring us back onto the right pathway filled with his love and care.

Wes goes on to say “Jesus shocks us by saying the happy ones are those who:”

  • are poor in spirit
  • mourn
  • are meek
  • hunger and thirst for righteousness
  • are merciful
  • are pure in heart
  • are peacemakers
  • are persecuted for righteousness sake.

Happiness is different for everyone but God sees things differently. He wants us happy but He also wants us to be holy. That’s most important thing important on His agenda.

We forget that GOD IS THE TRUE SOURCE of our happiness and that He will lead us down the pathway of righteousness but author Eddie Foster gives us this to think about when he writes, “Because happiness so often seems to be elusive, people often try to find it in all the wrong places. Many times they fall for an artificial happiness that they create with behaviors that give temporary pleasure.”

Anyone can find pleasure but true and lasting  happiness can only be found in God. Without Him, you’ll bounce from one thing to another always trying to feed that insatiable appetite for happiness. Instead, seek out God’s unconditional love and you’ll find the type of joy that will give you real contentment.

So there you have it – 5 ways God can help you start living a happier life right now.

What do you think?

Let me know how God has impacted your level of happiness and what you are doing right now to seek His joy.

Finding True Happiness In Life Part 3

Finding Happiness Starts In The Mind

Where is the first place you think of when trying to find happiness in your life?

For most people, it starts with their possessions. Let’s be real here. Most people worry too much about what they have or don’t have that they forget where true happiness begins and ends.

According to Buddhist nun, Gen Kelsang Nyema, we need to open our hearts and minds and look deep inside for happiness. Happiness lies within our own hearts and minds. She has a beautifully simple way about her that is incredibly peaceful and we can learn so much from her passion for happiness.

Happiness Is All In Your Mind: Gen Kelsang Nyema

She starts by asking 2 questions.

They are:
1- Are you having a good day?
2- Why are you having a good day and if you are not, why?

Everything in life is depended on those two questions and how we respond. If we are negative and drawn in by the negative aspects of life then we will not have a good day will we. No matter how hard we try, outside and external influences will rob us of our happiness.

This is why we need to look deep within for the happiness that God has put there. In fact, it really isn’t happiness at all… it is known as joy, pure joy. Joy is that which fills your soul with happiness no matter what happens in life. It is the manifestation of unconditional love that dwells in our hearts and minds and motivates us to seek out those things which brings us pleasure.

We seek happiness because we seek love. Love is happiness and when we find that love, it is manifested in our actions and the happiness from the inside is brought forth to others through our actions.

On the other hand, if you truly want to have a happy day no matter the circumstances, you need to see happiness from a different perspective. Her teacher, Geshe Kelsing Gyotso states, “Much of the time, our mind is like a balloon in the wind, blown here and there by external circumstances. When things are going well, we feel happy but if something doesn’t go our way, we’re not happy.”

We need to see the world in a bigger picture and not just our selfish reach for happiness but be compassionate to others for if we are causing unhappiness for others then it will come back to us in karma.

She goes on to say that “As long as our reasons for having a good day are a list of external conditions, then were not going to have the stable happiness we all want.”

That is an unbelievable statement because most of us put the blame on others, or circumstances for our unhappiness and we lose sight of what real happiness entails.

What Does Your Happiness Depend On?

If you can’t control your circumstances or the people you are with or meet then will they cause your unhappiness?

Of course not. But why do we believe that statement?

It means our happiness is left in the hands of others and we’ve given control of our lives over to others and I know I don’t want to give up control of my life to no one but God. We end up being at the whim of our daily circumstances.

What Do We Need To Be Happy?

1- Stop outsourcing our happiness and happiness to others – This means we have to take complete responsibility for our own happiness or unhappiness. As hard is that to accept, we must look deeply into our own hearts and minds to begin taking back control of what we feel.

Stop attributing our happiness or unhappiness to what is going on externally. We need to look within for our own happiness and own that. Stop blaming others for our unhappiness. The only blame should bo on ourselves for being so selfish.

2- Happiness and unhappiness are just states of mind – The real causes of our happiness or unhappiness depends on what is in our minds. That state controls what we feel and then we react to it. Instead, your happiness depends on a peaceful positive state of mind. That way, you can withstand anything that comes your way and still feel the joy of life.

It is how we are responding to everything around us that determines whether we are happy or not. Not outside circumstances because they change all the time.

How Is This Done?

Cultivating A Stable Peace Of Mind

We do it through cultivating a stable peace of mind. We cultivate this peaceful and positive state of mind through meditation. All meditation is, is a practice of concentrated focus on what we want to put our attention to. To cultivate this peaceful and positive peace of mind, we concentrate our energies on increasing
awareness of how we are responding to the things around us and changing those things that make us unhappy. This is a way to enhance both our personal and spiritual growth and become closer to God.

According to Vlad Dolezal of An Amazing Mind , there are 5 Simple Ways to Increase Your Peace of Mind.

He lists them out  below:

1-Do your most daunting task first thing in the morning –

2-Let go of things you don’t control

3-Don’t worry about what others are thinking

4-List 3 things you love about your situation right now

5-Walk to a window, look outside, and take a single deep breath

Are Joy And Happiness One In The Same?

Happiness comes and goes but joy is everlasting. Meditation teaches us to remain in loving kindness to the world around us and become the best version of unconditional love we can be to bring it to the world. How much happiness we bring depends on how much joy we feel. The more joyful we are the more we can
bring happiness to the world.

Sadness is part of the world but it doesn’t have to take us over. Being conscious of our thoughts, moods, and words ultimately brings happiness in our awareness of self. You can’t control others but you can control yourself that is why you have the choice to be happy even if things aren’t going your way. Happiness is a state of mind and whatever state you are in that is what you are feeling.

Go beyond your feelings and learn to calm the mind. It is there you will find the peace and happiness you have been searching all your life. I hope this 3-Part series has uplifted your spirits in such a way as to give you cause to rethink your own life in a way that will take you on the road to a rich and warm happiness that you can give to others through unconditional love.

Learning to find happiness is not an easy task but if you open your heart and mind happiness will find you

Finding True Happiness In Life Part 2

How To Own Your Own Happiness

We live in a world where we blame others for our unhappiness and look for things to bring us fulfillment. Finding happiness in life seems to be fleeting yet we can’t put our finger on what exactly gives us true happiness. Happiness is like walking in a circle with our eyes closed waiting for the right moment to open them in wide-eyed wonder but disappointment comes when we don’t get what we want.

Bishop TD Jakes tells us we need to own our happiness and be in charge of what makes us happy. Stop looking for others to fill a void that you should be filling yourself. If you are feeling empty, don’t look for others to make you happy. You have to be the one in charge of your own happiness in life.

We only have a finite time available on Earth so make the most of your time and fill it with all the happiness you can… no matter what the circumstances are. That’s the prescription for finding true happiness in life!

5 Steps To Owning Your Own Happiness With  TD Jakes

Bishop TD Jakes is interviewed on the Steve Harvey Show and talks about the 5 Steps To Owning Your Own Happiness. His words of wisdom are inspiring to anyone who wants to know what real happiness is all about.

Steve – What can I do to be happy?

Bishop Jakes – The five steps are…

1- Own your own happiness – Don’t demand that others make you happy. Be responsible for your own brand of happiness. Your kids, your spouse, your jobs, even a big house won’t make you happy.

Be responsible for doing those things that bring joy into your heart independently of life, people and money. They can’t bring you happiness. Take responsibility of that peace and joy that lives inside of your heart and not your stuff.

Challenge Your Happiness Story

2- The second thing is to challenge your own story – Don’t torment yourself by how you see your life. You tell yourself a story as if it were the definitive truth. It’s really just a perspective of the truth. The narrative you tell yourself needs to be challenged. Change the way you talk to yourself about who you are, what’s happened to you and where you’re going to do in your life. You wrote the script and you can rewrite your story. It’s up to you to change the dialogue going on.

Enjoy The Journey Not The Destination

3- The third thing is to enjoy the journey not the destination – Too many people delay their happiness until they get to a certain level in life. What happens if you don’t get there? You’ve lost all that time you could have been enjoying the moments. Enjoy the whole step, the whole process everyday that you are alive. Strive for what you want and celebrate not just at the finish line but along the whole path.

Steve – That’s so true because I hear people talking about making a million dollars when they haven’t even made $25K. There’s got to be joy in the process.

Bishop Jakes – If you don’t see yourself as valuable, nobody else will.

Make Your Relationships Count

4- The fourth thing is to make relationship count – Everything is about relationships. Life is filled with them so you can’t get away without them.

First of all, it’s your relationship with God. That is what is most important. As long as you know someone’s in charge you don’t have to bear the brunt of the responsibility and weight of the world He’s the boss!

Enjoy the relationship with yourself. If you don’t like yourself, it makes it hard for others to like you. When you walk into other people’s atmosphere they draw you into the cosmos of their own drama and if they are filed with drama you get caught up in the cyclone of their drama.

Enjoy the relationship with yourself and anyone else who comes in and enters a party you’ve already started. Take the time to enjoy the relationships because there is no fruit without relationships. You cannot be fruitful by yourself. You are no more than the relationships you surround yourself with.

Balance Your Work Time With Your Play Time

5- The fifth thing is to balance work with play – You can’t do all of either one and be successful. To those who much is given, much is required. If you work hard make sure you make time for play to balance your life out.

Balance is the key. Balance with your kids, your spouse, your friends, your job… even your life. This balance gives others a better perspective of who we are. Everything is not serious all the time. Add some fun to the seriousness. It puts too much pressure on us to be the person you were created to be.

Steve – You have to enjoy the journey and the process. Don’t live in misery and not enjoy what you have.

Bishop Jakes – Let’s talk about children. People don’t understand about children. It’s not what you leave to them that makes them great, it’s what you leave inside them. And if you leave enough in them you won’t have to worry about what they do. Your love will win over them with simple principals.

This inspiring message is something we all need to hear and put into action. Happiness is a choice that you make and everyday is a new choice to make. Life is  a long-distance run not a sprint. Enjoy your life everyday… don’t throw any days away. They are too precious to leave dangling between heartache and joy.

Finding True Happiness In Life Part 1

How To Find True Happiness

Finding true happiness… it’s everyone’s goal in life but far too many people end up looking for it in all the wrong places. They think money, power, and possessions can replace the joy that God has given us but they always end up at the same place… broke, dejected, and sometimes alone.

Finding True Happiness In Life

finding happiness

Are you happy?

The reason I ask this because according to 2016 World Happiness Report, people in the United States are only the thirteenth happiest people in the world. For the richest and most influential country on the planet, this doesn’t seem to make sense. But let’s delve a bit further and see how this affects you.

What makes you happy?

Is it family, friends, money, your career? All of the above… or none of the above?

You see, happiness is a state of mind not a place we go to or based on the current or past events of our lives. Happiness is like the air we breathe. We can either accept it and let it flow through our bodies pumping us up with a life-giving force or dismiss it and allow it make us sick. You, my friend, have the final decision on what you want to do when it comes to finding real happiness.

So let me ask you again. What makes you happy?

Finding happiness in life is actually a misnomer. We don’t have to find happiness… we need to experience happiness. It’s not about looking for something to make you happy but opening your heart and embracing happiness.

How To Live a Happy Life

The science of happiness has determined that happy people have specific ways they think and act that impacts their sense of well-being and happiness. It goes much deeper than just feeling happy. Many look at happiness as a result of their action but happiness drives your actions.

Take a look at your life. When you are happy, it inspires what you do but it’s the complete opposite when you are sad. But what if you didn’t have to rely on feelings to be happy? What if what you do everyday is a product of a belief is a higher power?

What if you could effectively erase worry from your thoughts? Do you think you could allow happiness to enter in.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Most people based their happiness on how much or how little they have to worry about.  Living with worry only spoils the happiness that surrounds you. Quality of life should have no bearing on how happy you are. The rich are not any more happier than the poor contrary to many believe.

In fact, many of the poor throughout the world are much happier than people who have so much. Studies show that the poor in many countries base their happiness on factors such as gratitude, love and care while those who pursue materialistic endeavors tend to use the objects as way to find happiness.

Henry David Thoreau once said this about happiness, “Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.”

If you search for happiness your whole life then it will be all in vain but if you allow happiness to live in your heart, it will grow like a flower. This is how I learned to be happy. I could have been mad at the world after losing my first girlfriend to leukemia but I lifted everything up to the Lord.

In Philippians 4:4-7, it tells us to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice ! 5 Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This gives us a road map on how to live a happy life.

How To Find Joy In Life

Psychotherapist Jude Bijou MA, MFT states, “Joy is an emotion, and emotions are wordless. They’re pure physical sensations in our bodies. We express the emotion of joy in many physical ways.”   Happiness should be physically exuded in everything we do. It isn’t about what we don’t have but being grateful for what we do have.

When I recently had major reconstructive surgery on my back, the pain was overwhelming but I still felt joy. Why? I was grateful for the health I did have. Pain was something I was used to for over ten years but I didn’t have control over that pain. To live a happier life, I needed to focus on things that I could control such as my mindset which is a major key to happiness.

So, how do you rewire your brain for happiness?

Here’s A Short List Of Things You Can Do To Change Your Mindset About Happiness

icon-check Build different bridges with your thoughts – This means, instead of building a negative bridge, start building positive bridges and then re-enforce those positive thoughts at so that our brains can adapt and change according to our everyday behaviors.

icon-check Practice self compassion – Compassionate people have shown the ability to see beyond those things that cause unhappiness ans are able to focus on both love and care which are vital to how happy people act.

icon-check Personal awareness – So often we live on autopilot that we forget to be aware of our surroundings. We don’t see the beauty and the wonder that is sitting right in front of us. We’re too worried about our bills, the office or even what to make for dinner that night. Our brains ruminate or go over the same things that it blocks out our chance to experience life in all its grandeur.

icon-check Commit random acts of kindness – These random acts of kindness set off s mini explosions of happiness in our brains. They give us hope, purpose and belonging in a world that sometimes can be very cruel. Giving is like a drug, the more you experience the more you want to keep giving.

The more you decide in your mind to be happy, the easier it will be to stay happy. When you concentrate on your personal happiness as well as the happiness of others, you make happiness a daily habit for the good of the world.

Experiencing Love And Happiness In The World Today

love and happiness

Love is one of the most important key to finding happiness in the world. Without it, we let misery creep in and allow ourselves to feel sorry for our situation.

Why is love so important to happiness.

Love and happiness have a connection that was given to us by God himself. God loves us so much that He wants us to experience that joy. We see this in bible verses such as: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4, and “In your presence is fullness of joy, and at your right hand are pleasures forevermore,” Psalm 16:11.

According to Arthur Dobrin, D.S.W., Professor Emeritus, Hofstra University and author of over twenty books, “Whichever way you find happiness, it is always accompanied by love, for happiness is ultimately the love of life, the celebration of living. The mark of happiness is that you are sensitive to the world around you, that you acknowledge your dependence upon your surroundings and that you are filled with loving-kindness.”

We are to seek out love and as well as give it and happiness will be a huge part of the process. George Sand probably distilled down to it’s perfect meaning when he said, There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.”

Love changes us in so many ways. It makes us feel good, it gives us hope in others and it allows us to express the true nature of our being.. that is, to just love no matter what! No only do love and happiness go hand in hand… they were made for each other.

Love is an action verb. It must be acted upon. It is through those actions that we not only derive happiness but give it as well. The world doesn’t like others to be happy but you can make the decision right now to live in happiness and learn what makes people happy. Once you know this, happiness is yours to keep.

How To Find True Happiness In Life

How To Find True Happiness

key to happiness

Ever felt like finding true happiness has eluded you your whole life?

Maybe you’ve had a few instances of happiness but they were so short lived you can barely remember them. I got ya! It seems like everyone is so miserable these days and you don’t have a clue as to why this happening to you also.

We look all over the place for true happiness but we forget the first rule of happiness… do what makes you happy. You don’t look for happiness, you let it come to you.

We find it in the little things in life. Ever thought about doing something wild and crazy but then your logical side spoke up as if it were your mother and told you to stop fooling around and get busy doing something constructive?

Those are happiness killers. The things that stop us from having fun and expressing ourselves.

What makes you happy?

What’s stopping you from the things that make you happy?

Excuses are the bane of anyone trying to find happiness in a world filled with sorrow and depression.

According to Professor Myrna Weisman and associates, roughly a quarter of the population has suffered some form of clinical depression during their lifetime and a further 48% has suffered from depression severe enough to incapacitate them for more than two weeks. This is also taken from Robert E. Lane’s book “Loss Of Happiness” and it shows that society is becoming less and less happy and has gone to taking out its frustrations on one another.

If you want to be happy you need to examine what makes you happy, why they make you happy and how you go about including those things in your life.

What Are 7 The Keys To Finding True Happiness

Worry is not one of then but the mere fact that we are so filled with worry makes it so hard to be happy. There are many ways to be happy but let me share some of the most powerful keys to finding happiness.

1- Faith It may seem like a no-brainer but too many people go round without faith in themselves or a higher being.  As a Christian, my faith keeps me grounded and allows me to stay away from temptations that would get me in trouble, from people who may try and take advantage of me as well as situations that may compromise my values. The more faith you have the happier your life tends to be. This isn’t just words but a promise. Countless studies have been done to see why people of faith  are happier. Their conclusion? People of faith have something to look forward to that is filled with joy. That gives them contentment others just can’t match.

2- Learn To Savor Live’s Pleasures – You can’t be happy if you don’t experience what life has to offer. How often do you forget the good times in your life while ruminating over that spilt glass of milk or forgetting someone’s name? Savor the good times and forget the bad times. Go out and spell the flowers, Learn how to go out and splurge on yourself without feeling guilty and indulge in what life has to offer. Every day is a chance to see all the beauty God had made for us.

3- Have A Set of Friends Who Have Your Back –  Friends are given to us to experience life from all points of view.  They are there in good times and bad, to laugh at our silly jokes and to make connections that go deeper than just what’s on the outside. Most of our happy memories come from the experiences we share with others.

4- Stop Living Safe – How boring life would be if we never took chances. Where is the fun in being safe. Live like you may not see tomorrow, love like it may be your last time and create adventures that bring fun into your life. It’s not about throwing caution to the wind but taking calculated risk that brings the most rewards.

5- Find Your Balance Point – Life should not be all about work and no play and vise versa. It should be balanced to the point where happiness has a chance to breathe. When the tipping point goes beyond your set balance, unhappiness and misery fills your heart. The main goals of balance is to allow the body and mind to be fulfilled and at peace. If you have neither then you must rebalance you life and add or detract those things that push your life out of balance.

6- Reposition Your Thought Patterns – Too often we take the “I want”  stance in our lives and this leads straight to unhappiness. The more we have, the greater chance of us drowning in possessions instead of experiences. Switch your thoughts to “I Am” and you’ll see the difference. It’s all about piece of mind and believing in yourself. That leads to true happiness and empowerment. Once you have the power to be happy through the mind, you will know the source of your happiness and be able to find happiness wherever you go.

7- Appreciation & Gratitude – If you don’t have these two things you will never be truly happy no matter what you do. Appreciation helps us feel good about  who we are, what we have and the people in your life. The same thing goes for gratitude. Thanking God and showing it in your daily excursions brings a peace of mind that helps you during your struggles. Don’t underestimate the power of a good thank you or a pat on the back. Those things are as important as anything else in life.

What is The Meaning Of Happiness

Do you know what the meaning of happiness is? Happiness is not the final destination but takes real effort to maintain. We equate happiness with satisfaction and quality of life but it goes much deeper than that. Even though our moods fluctuate, we control whether we stay happy or become depressed.

Research has found that the more our activities coincide with our values the happier we are.  We get meaning from doing those these things but our problems arise from where we put our priorities in the wrong place.

Does your priorities jell with your activities? If not, you may want to think about changing your activities. Happiness alone isn’t enough for us to feel fulfilled but chasing happiness is not the answer.

“It is the very pursuit of happiness that thwarts happiness.” Viktor Frankl

In an article entitled “The Problem With Happiness” dated November 17, 2011 bears this out. It states, “People putting the greatest emphasis on being happy reported 50 percent less frequent positive emotions, 35 percent less satisfaction about their life, and 75 percent more depressive symptoms.”

How then do we find happiness?

What Does Happiness Mean To You

We must first decide what is important to each individual person. Then, bring a piece of that happiness and give it to others. This is how we derive meaning from that happiness. Happiness is nothing without meaning.

Here are things you can do to find the meaning of happiness in your own life.

1- Take responsibility for your own happiness and not leave it up to others to bring it to you.

2- Commit yourself to a higher purpose. What is your mission on earth. When you find your purpose you are able to commit yourself to bringing God’s love to the world through your higher purpose.

3- Cultivate awareness of both your surroundings and your thoughts for they can bring great happiness or great sorrow. Be aware of the moment and make that moment count.

4- Cultivate positive relationships that help you grow as a person. Without them, you will be not know the essence of loving others. Selfishness does not breed happiness.

5- Learn to be the most authentic person you can be. This way you don’t have to hide behind a veil of secrecy. The more you let others see the real you the happier you can be in your own skin.

According to Michael Davidson. from his article “The Meaning of Happiness” he states “Happiness is the harmony between you and your life that you achieve through finding meaning in every moment.”

I think that sums up what being happy is all about. Now it’s your turn to make it work for you for you have the choice in all matters to be or not to be happy.

How To Find Lasting Happiness

emerson2

Every day we have a chance to find happiness. What are you doing to elicit love and happiness to a world that is devoid of personal contact?

We spend far too much time on Facebook and Twitter and not enough time bringing happiness to the world.

What can you do to find your own brand of happiness?

What must you do to walk through the valley of joy?

Are you getting the most fun out of life? It might seem like an easy question to answer but most of us need to be brutally honest with ourselves. It’s all about finding lasting happiness.

No one with any brain whatsoever can deny that being happy is good advice, but unfortunately for many of us, it can be a difficult request to follow. It shouldn’t be, but the quest has become a burden to many and has led them down a deep and narrow path filled with both decadence and sin.

We reach out in all sorts of strange and unusual ways to find real happiness and still it escapes us but God wants us to be truly happy. We just need to surrender ourselves to His will and happiness will ultimately follow. This may sound like a fantasy to many but God has promised us new life in the spirit as found in 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creature; the old things passed away; behold, new
things have come.”

If you find yourself looking in from the outside and wonder why so many other people seem to have every advantage in life while you are mired in the depths of despair, remember this; Everyone’s situation in life is different.

We can choose to become the masters of our own destiny by overcoming our emotions and make smart lifestyle and social choices. Positive choices can ensure we find ourselves happy at the end of the day. No matter what we face, we have the final choice in what we do. Or we can do the exact opposite and live apart from God’s love.

Finding Lasting Happiness In Life

Here’s a simple fact: you can’t truly be happy unless you choose to be happy. When you choose to be happy, you are making a conscious decision about how you look at the world. You are taking personal responsibility over your outlook, rather than blaming outside forces for the way you feel.

Life is filled with all kinds of opportunities to experience happiness but too many of us spoil it by giving excuses as to why we can’t be happy.

Why is this?

What can I do to make happiness a reality?

Put quite simply, the happier you are, the healthier you will be. We know this is true because a wonderful connection between wellness and joy has been discovered. In March of 2013, doctors, psychiatrists and experts from the Mayo Clinic, Harvard University and National Institutes of Health all jumped on Twitter to hold a one-hour discussion about happiness.

According to Dr Friedman, a well-known psychiatrist with the Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Hospital in New York,he states, Happiness is hard to measure, but easy to recognize.” And that is so very true.

You can spot a happy person in an instant. They have a glow about them and give off a radiance of peacefulness and satisfaction. That may be due to the fact that happiness has now finally been officially linked to better health. This affects entire communities as well as individuals. Happiness can even lower the number of stress causing hormones in your body, and improve your immune function.

Just ask Laura Kubzansky, an associate professor at the Harvard School of Public Health who is a leader in studying the effects of those people who choose to have a positive outlook on life. She participated in a study whose results were released in 2007, which included over 6,000 women and men. It tracked 25 to 74-year-old individuals for two decades.

Those participants who were engaged in life and chose to face life’s troubles with enthusiasm and hopefulness actually had a lower risk of coronary heart disease. It seems that emotional vitality can actually make you healthier. This in turn causes you to feel better about yourself and your surroundings, which continues to make you happier about the world. When you choose to be happy, a wonderful cycle of health and joy begins.

Finding Lasting Happiness In God’s Love

Choosing God’s Love To Experience Real Joy A funny thing happens when we involve God in our lives. We see things from a different point of view. God’s love strengthens the bonds of friendship, love, and families in a way that we can never do on our own.

God calls us to seek happiness in him. We see this in bible verses such as:“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4, and “In your presence is fullness of joy, and at your right hand are pleasures forevermore,”  Psalm 16:11.

God loves us so much that He wants us to experience the joy that comes from His unconditional love. According to author Jon Bloom, “Pleasure is the measure of your treasure.”  There are many promises that God makes and they include being joyful and knowing His peace which are not temporary.

Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the
world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27.

Humans crave happiness but finding pleasure is not the same. Too many try to find it in sinful practices such as drugs, alcohol, and sex and get lost along the way. Your job is to seek God and you will see what real happiness is all about.

Finding lasting happiness is not about a quick fix but those things that bring joy to our hearts and pleasure to the world. Without God’s happiness, love and happiness would be a much bitter pill to swallow.

Finding Happiness In God’s Kingdom

Finding Happiness In A World Filled With Hate

Finding happiness is a journey we all take and like every good journey, there are bound to be ups and downs. The feeling that comes with real contentment, sheer joy, and a sense of well-being are what we all strive for in life. When you’re on the path to finding real happiness, plotting the journey becomes just as important as the journey itself. Unfortunately, the world is at a crossroads with how it treats one another and achieving happiness is not given for anyone.

Hate has taken over the world and many people are scared, lonely and feel as if happiness is no longer within their grasps. We are living in a time of great heartache with terrorism, racial tensions at an all-time high, and Christians are facing persecution all over the world. In fact, over 95% of people either go to bed or wake up with worry and fear.

How about you?

Do you feel that way?

For me, I never thought I’d find a way to be happy ever again. In September of 2014, I nearly died in a horrific car accident that left me with four crushed discs in my back and two herniated disc in my neck. Walking has become a chore as well as trying to get the proper amount of sleep but you may think I’d feel sorry for myself after that but God turned around my life and He can do the same for you.

Ways For Christians To Start Finding Happiness In A Sinful World

You’d think it would be easy to find ways to be happy in life with the amount of things that tickle our fancy. From social media to video games, easy sex, illicit drugs, and immoral practices, living without sin can feel like a daunting task.

How does one go about finding ways to be happy without committing sins against God?

As a Christian, we must get back to basics. Do we follow society’s version of happiness and be like everyone else or do we follow God’s plan and alienate ourselves from the masses who don’t believe in God?

For young people, it can be a struggle but fortunately, God has given us a roadmap to follow that guides our every step. It’s called the Bible yet many Christians do not read it and follow God’s commands, especially millennials.

For them, God has become something that isn’t cool anymore and most people do not like to be told they are sinning so they ignore the teachings and live for the next high or good time. But is that really fun they are having or have they become mindless followers?

Let’s look at Five Ways Christians Can Start Finding Happiness In Life

1- Loving Others – Selfishness has become the norm in society. Everyone thinks they are entitled to things but forget that they must work for what they have. Loving others brings happiness in a way that we cannot find on our own. Mahatma Gandhi once said that “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Studies have shown that helping others improves our own levels of happiness.  A 2010 survey entitled Do Good Live Well Survey , found that out of 4,500 American adults, 41% of Americans volunteered an average of 100 hours a year. 68% stated that they feel physically healthier after helping others, over 89% said it improved their sense of happiness, and 73% found it lowered their stress levels.

This is a big difference in the way most people live. We put our circumstances first and complain about feeling tired and stressed out yet the path to happiness always goes through others. In their book  entitled The Paradox of Generosity , sociologists Christian Smith and Hilary Davidson  found that very happy people volunteer an average of 5.8 hours per month. as oppose to those who are unhappy who volunteer just 0.6 hours.

Volunteering to help others is a concrete way of putting God’s word into practice. We are asked to love God with all our hearts and soul and to love others as we do ourselves. Giving of ourselves does that much more than giving money can ever do.

2- Show Compassion Emma Seppala Ph. D., states that We often think that we will gain happiness by achieving, receiving or attaining. We also think that in order to be happy, we have to receive love. Think again! Research shows that our greatest fulfillment comes in large part from being connected to others and from helping them.”  She goes on to say this about compassion, “Compassion brings meaning and researchers have found that living a life of meaning is one of the greatest determinants of happiness. Not only does compassion ensure depth, fulfillment and purpose in our lives, studies show that it has powerful health benefits and even leads to a longer life!”

Compassion is the glue that holds humanity together. Love cannot function without compassion and we as humans cannot experience real happiness if we are not filled with compassion for others as well as ourselves. Having compassion for ourselves helps us feel good about our existence and who doesn’t want to feel good?

Learning how to be compassionate starts with empathy.  We cultivate compassion by developing empathy for others. Empathy brings appreciation for our own situation and circumstances while helping us to see the suffering of others.

Having compassion for others also brings out the commonalities we all share. It is through this shared commonality that we recognize the worth of others. Our happiness comes from loving others in a compassionate way.

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” – Dalai Lama

3-Self-Discovery –  Happiness comes from inside not from all the things you’ve accumulated over the years. When you don’t feel happy, it’s time to take a step back and get to know yourself. When you know who you are, what your core value system is, and take notice of what fills you with joy, you’ll be ready to plot your course to true happiness.

Getting to know the real you can be difficult. You’ve formed an opinion about yourself from the time you were a small child and what makes you happy, sad, angry and self-confident is all based on both your personality, circumstances and experiences. You may be surprised to find that what you thought was true isn’t true at all.

God knows you better than you will ever know yourself and has a plan for you. Following this plan brings it’s own brand of happiness.

Self-discovery is your launching pad to finding  happiness in your life. When you know what you want out of life, what your true purpose is, and why God created you, you will be  on your way to completing the circle of happiness that all Christians long for.

Assessing the various parts of your Christian life can be helpful in determining what level of happiness you achieve. One way is to keep a gratitude journal. Each day, write down all the thing you are grateful for. pray for guidance so that you focus on those things that bring gratitude into your life.

loving God

4- Find Your Core Values  – The essence of your personality come from within your core values. If you’re engaged in activities or have relationships with others who don’t meet the criteria that meet your true values, it’s time find a way to r surround yourself with positive people who adhere to those values you hold dear to your heart.

Your core values are the building blocks of who you ultimately become. Life coach, Debra Smouse states that, ” Your values are who you are, not who you think you should be in order to fit in.”  We sometimes forget that and make fitting in with others our goal in finding happiness. Instead, your beliefs and values give you purpose and are the branches that we spread out amongst the world.

Christians must wade through a maze of conflicting messages that can compromise our values and send us skidding down the pathway towards sin. Having the right values and living your life based on those values keeps Christians strong. Our love of God and His word teach us what to believe in and we derive our happiness  from putting those beliefs in action.

5- Live Out The Gospel – Every Christian knows what the four Gospels teach and our whole existence is based on those teachings. How often do we compromise what we’ve learned to seek out happiness in all the wrong places?

We are told in Psalm 1:1-6 that, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.”

Prosperity comes from the law of the Lord. We are hardwired for happiness and that happiness comes in the form of Jesus Christ. It’s in our pursuit of holiness that real joy comes into our heart. The more we love and follow Jesus, the more we experience the joys He has promised.

Happiness is a journey.  We must practice it everyday if we are to overcome sin and those who force their beliefs on us. The more we come to Jesus and submit ourselves to Him, the more we will find joy in our ordinary lives.

Happiness is there for the taking. Are you Christian enough to take it?

Why Happiness Is A Choice You Make

happiness is a choice you make

Happiness Is A Choice You Make

happiness is a choice you make

If you feel you are lacking in the happiness department my friend, that is a choice you have decided to make.  You have full and complete control over your life and the decisions you make so don’t let anyone tell you different.  Whatever you do in life choosing to be happy is a choice you make and you make alone. You may feel like the fun has gone out of your life but there are many   factors which people measure their own happiness.  Some people think money is the ultimate happiness but they soon realize money doesn’t bring happiness only misery if all you do is work all the time to pay for your pleasures.

You might look at others who are blessed with so much but beware, you don’t know their situation. They may be in serious debt even though it looks like they have  everything.  Don’t strive to be like them. Instead, carve out your own happiness niche in this world by following your passions and your ideals. Being a slave to wealth, possessions, status, or even an exalted position you hold at work. don’t create happiness.  Happiness is a choice that comes from deep inside.

How is Happiness Measured?
