Reign Of Christ
Here is your Daily Devotional Prayer for December 5, 2016 brought to you by The Plough
“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.”
Lord our God, dear Father, you have made yourself known on earth so that we may love you and be loved by you. Give us your Spirit, we pray. Give us your Spirit to strengthen us in the life and work you offer us. Watch over us on all our ways. Wherever your children are sighing and calling for you, protect and guide them with your mighty hand. Let your kingdom spread over the whole world, over all people, over all races and nations, that we may become united as servants of Jesus Christ to your honor. Amen.
Daily Commentary: The Lord has dominion over all and his kingdom will be forever. The reign of Christ was foretold throughout the passages of the bible and we, as Christians, will see the glory of heaven after Jesus defeats the antichrist. In God’s time, the judgment will happen but we must make way for the Lord.
The spiritual reign of Christ is seen in Jeremiah 23:5-6. “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.”
We look forward to this day as it will fulfill all the prophecies of God. According to Pastor Alex Dodson from the Watchman Radio Hour, he states that, “The Kingdom of Christ was set up at His first coming. We are not waiting for the Kingdom of Christ to begin in the future. It has already begun. Of course, there is the Heavenly Kingdom of the future which follows the Judgment and which all believers will inherit. This Heavenly Kingdom is the ultimate form of Christ’s Kingdom. However, this does not take away from the fact that Christ’s Kingdom has already been set up and is in progress. Jesus is now building a kingdom and in that sense we are now in the kingdom age. He will continue to build His kingdom right up to the end.”
But what are we to do in the meantime? Our duty is this: “It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.” Titus 2:12-15
This is the problem. We acknowledge Jesus the King but we don’t act like He is. Christ’s millennial reign on earth seems so far into the future that we brush it off instead of heading it’s warning.
Are you looking forward to His reign? Are you doing all you can to prepare for His reign? The master will come “like a thief in the night” and it’s up to you to live without agitated hope.
Here is a quote that I find interesting as it precisely defines how many people think about the importance of God’s coming reign.
“Minds that are ill at ease are agitated by both hope and fear. “
Don’t let fear ruin your hope. And don’t hope without faith or you will lose both. God’s reign is coming and you have nothing to fear if you are a faithful Christian believer.
