I Am The Lord Your God
Here is your Daily Devotional Prayer for November 11, 2016 brought to you by The Plough
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” Exodus 20:2–4
Lord our God, we come to you, the source of all being. You have said to us, “I am your God. You shall have no other gods besides me. Honor none but me, your God.” We thank you for this wonderful message. Help us to recognize you more and more, so that our hearts are full of the goodness and blessing we already have on earth, so that we hear you, the mighty One, say, “Stop, O people. Make peace. No one of you is more important than any other. Remember that I am God of all, in south and north, in west and east, on the oceans and everywhere. I am the one God, and through Jesus Christ I am now your Father.” Amen.
Daily Commentary: We have been made for God’s glory. In this way He has asserted His authority over all the universe and tells us we must accept Him as our Lord and savior. To be a Christian is to be obedient to the will of God. Make no mistake about it, you either follow God or not… but if you don’t you t will be at your own risk of salvation.
How many of us have brought our own false gods into our life? We make money, power, influence, greed more important than God. We may think we have put these things in balance but look deep into your heart. What you spend the most time on, whether it is television, social media, games, that is your God. In Matthew 6:24 reads, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
We are still in slavery.. a self-induced one that has put us at the feet of our false idols. We look to celebrities, politicians sports figures as our role models but in Matthew 6:33 we see it where we are supposed to look. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Society has got it all wrong. We look towards our own selfish and greedy needs instead of putting God first and letting Him work for His glory. We live in a world that has lost the significance of God’s unconditional love and seek out pleasures from other means. this had led us away from God’s kingdom into the the arms of the devil.
Remove those things that keep us from the God and allow Him to bring purpose and order to our lives. Only then can we say, “Lord you are King of Kings, and Lord of Lords and truly mean it!
