Forgive Us Our Trespasses
Here is your Daily Devotional Prayer for October 12, 2016 brought to you by The Plough
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Lord our God, we thank you for the great light you send throughout the world to let us know that you forgive, that no sin is too great for you to forgive. Grant that people may cry out, “Have mercy on me, O God!” Give them the spirit of prayer in their hearts to call, “Father, forgive us our sins.” Send your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth and humility, and then forgive their sins. Wherever a soul is sighing, wherever someone is calling to you, hear him. May our prayers come before your throne. Hear and answer us. We have so much on our hearts that we cannot rightly express it all. We pray for others too. Father, forgive them. Clear away all the obstacles so that your judgment can be merciful toward those whom you forgive. Be with us. May we be a church community of Jesus Christ, washed in his blood, with strength to face every bitter outburst of the world’s fury and still forgive. May our prayer remain, “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” Amen.
Daily Commentary: Thanks to the great mercy of God in heaven we have been washed clean of our sins through the body and blood of Jesus’ resurrection. He paid the price for our sins and know it is our turn to go forth into the world and forgive others for their sins against us. Let God be the one to judge them.
It is the sheer power of forgiveness that heals us of the heavy burden of guilt. May you learn how to forgive your neighbor for not just his sinning against you but as God forgives us. With love and care and a meek and humble heart. Forgiveness comes from humility and when we open up our heart to forgive, we see the Lord shining through the heart, mind and body of those we forgive.
We are to abide in His love and help our brothers and sisters to reach their pinnacle in Christ Jesus. For each of us has ability to come before our Lord and ask for forgiveness. We come through love and are forgiven through love. This is God’s unconditional love. He loves us no matter what but we need to take that same attitude towards others and show them mercy and kindness like our Lord has shown us. Only then can we live out the Gospel the way Jesus taught it.
