God is my refuge

God Is My Refuge

God Is My Refuge

Here is your Daily Devotional Prayer for November 17, 2016 brought to you by The Plough

“What answer shall be given to the envoys of that nation? “The Lord has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.”  Isaiah 14:32

Lord our God, you are our refuge. We wait for you, for your purpose will never fail and your promise will be fulfilled. This we may firmly believe, and from this we may draw strength every day. Even when our life brings sorrow, we do not want to grieve. We want to hope and believe and endure until your day comes. Your kingdom will come on earth, and in the meantime you are watching over your people. In the midst of the world’s daily affairs there will be people who hope in you, who belong to you, and who are firmly rooted in the grace of Jesus Christ until the time is fulfilled. Amen.

Daily Commentary: To trust God in all things, we need to understand that only God is my refuge. We can look to society for our needs but when we are in times of despair, we have to put God in charge.

How do we know He is our refuge?

A refuge is a safe place and since there is nothing that God doesn’t control, we can be assured that we are taken care of. We see this in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

God is a fortress that no man can conquer. He brings strength in hard times yet we can claim His peace and comfort with both faith and trust. It is by the grace of God that we overcome our trials and tribulations and take His encouragement to heart.

So take refuge in the Lord and trust God, He will be your rock when things get tough.
