Do You Have Faith In God?

Faith In God

Here is your Daily Devotional Prayer for November 16, 2016 brought to you by The

“To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1

Lord our God, we come to you in community of faith and trust, in expectation that you will act. May our hearts be strengthened in all the pain and in all the conflicts of our world. Reveal your will, Almighty God, and protect those you have appointed as our leaders and rulers. Let your will be made plain to them. O Lord God, help your people in these times and give them strength to wait expectantly for what is good, to live and serve in this expectation. Grant your help to all who strive for this. We can all tell of the help that comes from you, for you always support us with your power, also in hard times. Amen.

Daily Commentary: According to Pastor Jim Haeffele,  “Faith is trust, assurance and confidence in God. Living faith is shown by service and obedience to God. God will increase our faith if we fervently ask and draw close to Him.”  That is a beautiful idea that we should all hold close to our heart. Faith is believing in Jesus and drawing strength from our creator.

What does it mean to have faith? Our faith comes from a hope that is true, fierce and mighty. Why do I say that? God made everything from His hands and everything comes from Him. We trust, a key word here, that through conviction, we see the evidence of His handiwork  and what do we do? We see it in 2 Corinthians 5:7), “We walk by faith and not by sight.”

You see, our whole walk with Christ is based on faith. Without it, we have no pathway to walk on, no road to for our journey to travel on and no place for us to end up at. Faith is, and ever will be, as Pastor John Piper says, “A spiritual act that sees the fingerprints of God.”  If you cannot see those fingerprints then you must start looking for them for there is where your faith starts.

Here are three things to remember that god has done for us and involves our true faith:

  • He has promised never to leave us or forsake us
  • He intercedes for us day after day in heaven
  • He died for us once for all as a final sacrifice for our sins

True faith is not just for the strong but for the poor of spirit for they will inherit the kingdom of heaven!
