Finding True Happiness In Life Part 3

Finding Happiness Starts In The Mind

Where is the first place you think of when trying to find happiness in your life?

For most people, it starts with their possessions. Let’s be real here. Most people worry too much about what they have or don’t have that they forget where true happiness begins and ends.

According to Buddhist nun, Gen Kelsang Nyema, we need to open our hearts and minds and look deep inside for happiness. Happiness lies within our own hearts and minds. She has a beautifully simple way about her that is incredibly peaceful and we can learn so much from her passion for happiness.

Happiness Is All In Your Mind: Gen Kelsang Nyema

She starts by asking 2 questions.

They are:
1- Are you having a good day?
2- Why are you having a good day and if you are not, why?

Everything in life is depended on those two questions and how we respond. If we are negative and drawn in by the negative aspects of life then we will not have a good day will we. No matter how hard we try, outside and external influences will rob us of our happiness.

This is why we need to look deep within for the happiness that God has put there. In fact, it really isn’t happiness at all… it is known as joy, pure joy. Joy is that which fills your soul with happiness no matter what happens in life. It is the manifestation of unconditional love that dwells in our hearts and minds and motivates us to seek out those things which brings us pleasure.

We seek happiness because we seek love. Love is happiness and when we find that love, it is manifested in our actions and the happiness from the inside is brought forth to others through our actions.

On the other hand, if you truly want to have a happy day no matter the circumstances, you need to see happiness from a different perspective. Her teacher, Geshe Kelsing Gyotso states, “Much of the time, our mind is like a balloon in the wind, blown here and there by external circumstances. When things are going well, we feel happy but if something doesn’t go our way, we’re not happy.”

We need to see the world in a bigger picture and not just our selfish reach for happiness but be compassionate to others for if we are causing unhappiness for others then it will come back to us in karma.

She goes on to say that “As long as our reasons for having a good day are a list of external conditions, then were not going to have the stable happiness we all want.”

That is an unbelievable statement because most of us put the blame on others, or circumstances for our unhappiness and we lose sight of what real happiness entails.

What Does Your Happiness Depend On?

If you can’t control your circumstances or the people you are with or meet then will they cause your unhappiness?

Of course not. But why do we believe that statement?

It means our happiness is left in the hands of others and we’ve given control of our lives over to others and I know I don’t want to give up control of my life to no one but God. We end up being at the whim of our daily circumstances.

What Do We Need To Be Happy?

1- Stop outsourcing our happiness and happiness to others – This means we have to take complete responsibility for our own happiness or unhappiness. As hard is that to accept, we must look deeply into our own hearts and minds to begin taking back control of what we feel.

Stop attributing our happiness or unhappiness to what is going on externally. We need to look within for our own happiness and own that. Stop blaming others for our unhappiness. The only blame should bo on ourselves for being so selfish.

2- Happiness and unhappiness are just states of mind – The real causes of our happiness or unhappiness depends on what is in our minds. That state controls what we feel and then we react to it. Instead, your happiness depends on a peaceful positive state of mind. That way, you can withstand anything that comes your way and still feel the joy of life.

It is how we are responding to everything around us that determines whether we are happy or not. Not outside circumstances because they change all the time.

How Is This Done?

Cultivating A Stable Peace Of Mind

We do it through cultivating a stable peace of mind. We cultivate this peaceful and positive state of mind through meditation. All meditation is, is a practice of concentrated focus on what we want to put our attention to. To cultivate this peaceful and positive peace of mind, we concentrate our energies on increasing
awareness of how we are responding to the things around us and changing those things that make us unhappy. This is a way to enhance both our personal and spiritual growth and become closer to God.

According to Vlad Dolezal of An Amazing Mind , there are 5 Simple Ways to Increase Your Peace of Mind.

He lists them out  below:

1-Do your most daunting task first thing in the morning –

2-Let go of things you don’t control

3-Don’t worry about what others are thinking

4-List 3 things you love about your situation right now

5-Walk to a window, look outside, and take a single deep breath

Are Joy And Happiness One In The Same?

Happiness comes and goes but joy is everlasting. Meditation teaches us to remain in loving kindness to the world around us and become the best version of unconditional love we can be to bring it to the world. How much happiness we bring depends on how much joy we feel. The more joyful we are the more we can
bring happiness to the world.

Sadness is part of the world but it doesn’t have to take us over. Being conscious of our thoughts, moods, and words ultimately brings happiness in our awareness of self. You can’t control others but you can control yourself that is why you have the choice to be happy even if things aren’t going your way. Happiness is a state of mind and whatever state you are in that is what you are feeling.

Go beyond your feelings and learn to calm the mind. It is there you will find the peace and happiness you have been searching all your life. I hope this 3-Part series has uplifted your spirits in such a way as to give you cause to rethink your own life in a way that will take you on the road to a rich and warm happiness that you can give to others through unconditional love.

Learning to find happiness is not an easy task but if you open your heart and mind happiness will find you

Finding True Happiness In Life Part 2

How To Own Your Own Happiness

We live in a world where we blame others for our unhappiness and look for things to bring us fulfillment. Finding happiness in life seems to be fleeting yet we can’t put our finger on what exactly gives us true happiness. Happiness is like walking in a circle with our eyes closed waiting for the right moment to open them in wide-eyed wonder but disappointment comes when we don’t get what we want.

Bishop TD Jakes tells us we need to own our happiness and be in charge of what makes us happy. Stop looking for others to fill a void that you should be filling yourself. If you are feeling empty, don’t look for others to make you happy. You have to be the one in charge of your own happiness in life.

We only have a finite time available on Earth so make the most of your time and fill it with all the happiness you can… no matter what the circumstances are. That’s the prescription for finding true happiness in life!

5 Steps To Owning Your Own Happiness With  TD Jakes

Bishop TD Jakes is interviewed on the Steve Harvey Show and talks about the 5 Steps To Owning Your Own Happiness. His words of wisdom are inspiring to anyone who wants to know what real happiness is all about.

Steve – What can I do to be happy?

Bishop Jakes – The five steps are…

1- Own your own happiness – Don’t demand that others make you happy. Be responsible for your own brand of happiness. Your kids, your spouse, your jobs, even a big house won’t make you happy.

Be responsible for doing those things that bring joy into your heart independently of life, people and money. They can’t bring you happiness. Take responsibility of that peace and joy that lives inside of your heart and not your stuff.

Challenge Your Happiness Story

2- The second thing is to challenge your own story – Don’t torment yourself by how you see your life. You tell yourself a story as if it were the definitive truth. It’s really just a perspective of the truth. The narrative you tell yourself needs to be challenged. Change the way you talk to yourself about who you are, what’s happened to you and where you’re going to do in your life. You wrote the script and you can rewrite your story. It’s up to you to change the dialogue going on.

Enjoy The Journey Not The Destination

3- The third thing is to enjoy the journey not the destination – Too many people delay their happiness until they get to a certain level in life. What happens if you don’t get there? You’ve lost all that time you could have been enjoying the moments. Enjoy the whole step, the whole process everyday that you are alive. Strive for what you want and celebrate not just at the finish line but along the whole path.

Steve – That’s so true because I hear people talking about making a million dollars when they haven’t even made $25K. There’s got to be joy in the process.

Bishop Jakes – If you don’t see yourself as valuable, nobody else will.

Make Your Relationships Count

4- The fourth thing is to make relationship count – Everything is about relationships. Life is filled with them so you can’t get away without them.

First of all, it’s your relationship with God. That is what is most important. As long as you know someone’s in charge you don’t have to bear the brunt of the responsibility and weight of the world He’s the boss!

Enjoy the relationship with yourself. If you don’t like yourself, it makes it hard for others to like you. When you walk into other people’s atmosphere they draw you into the cosmos of their own drama and if they are filed with drama you get caught up in the cyclone of their drama.

Enjoy the relationship with yourself and anyone else who comes in and enters a party you’ve already started. Take the time to enjoy the relationships because there is no fruit without relationships. You cannot be fruitful by yourself. You are no more than the relationships you surround yourself with.

Balance Your Work Time With Your Play Time

5- The fifth thing is to balance work with play – You can’t do all of either one and be successful. To those who much is given, much is required. If you work hard make sure you make time for play to balance your life out.

Balance is the key. Balance with your kids, your spouse, your friends, your job… even your life. This balance gives others a better perspective of who we are. Everything is not serious all the time. Add some fun to the seriousness. It puts too much pressure on us to be the person you were created to be.

Steve – You have to enjoy the journey and the process. Don’t live in misery and not enjoy what you have.

Bishop Jakes – Let’s talk about children. People don’t understand about children. It’s not what you leave to them that makes them great, it’s what you leave inside them. And if you leave enough in them you won’t have to worry about what they do. Your love will win over them with simple principals.

This inspiring message is something we all need to hear and put into action. Happiness is a choice that you make and everyday is a new choice to make. Life is  a long-distance run not a sprint. Enjoy your life everyday… don’t throw any days away. They are too precious to leave dangling between heartache and joy.

How To Transform Your Mind And Transform Your Life

How To Transform Your Mind

The mind is the strongest weapon known to mankind yet most of us never develop the the skills needed to become the person we were meant to be. When challenges arrive, will you be ready to face them head on or will you cower away in fear for lack of confidence?

This is where personal transformation takes over. The idea of personal transformation starts with change at it’s core but to transform one’s self  is to have a total metamorphosis of both body, mind and soul.

We are talking about making a change that will propel us to where we want to go in life. This propulsion that we use starts with the mind for we cannot change anything if we cannot change our thoughts. You’ve probably heard and seen individuals who have done some incredible physical feats that defy explanation but the body follows where the mind takes it.

This is true of anything we set our minds to do. Look back over your own life and think back to something you wanted to accomplish. Did you think you could do it at the start? Probably not but you forged on, gaining confidence in your abilities to make things happen. You didn’t realize it then but you were going through a personal transformation that was set in motion by your mind.

Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford  Motor Company, used to say this about our thoughts, If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” What did he mean by that? Our thoughts determine where we go in life. If we think we can accomplish something, our thoughts are put in gear and the mind works to make it happen but when we say we can’t, our mind stops completely. It has been told there’s no reason to go on so it shuts down and goes on to others things.

This is why some people are successful and others can’t get out of their own way. It all has to do with the condition of their mind. Even if these people fail, they continue on, struggling to find the answers while others quit at the first sign of trouble and don’t believe they can do it.

Remember, the scene in “The Empire Strikes Back” where Luke Skywalker tries to levitate his X-wing fighter out of the bog? He fails miserably and uses the excuse that moving stones around is one thing, but the fighter is too big. Yoda reminds him that size doesn’t matter. “Look at me” says Yoda, “Judge me by my size?” Luke has already given up but Yoda is able to lift the fighter out of the bog and onto the nearby ground. Yoda responds by stating, “No! No different! Only different in your mind.”

Isn’t that how most of us think. We give up before we even start? But what if there were no excuses? What if we could change those thoughts from negative to positive and act on them? Do you think you could transform your mind to do great things in this world?

That’s the key here. It’s not some radical, all-encompassing change that turns you into a superhero. No. Instead, it is a systematic approach to how you think, feel and ultimately act on the events going on in our lives.

Personal Transformations That Change Your Life

Tony Robbins, the world’s greatest Peak Performance Coach, is a master motivator. If you have never gone to one of his seminars, you really are missing something extraordinary. He has the incredible ability to get to the heart of a person’s problem and find what’s really holding you back. For those who attend his “Unleash The Power Within” seminar, he has been able to motivate people to accomplish crazy things such as walking over burning coals.

It’s all about mind over matter. That’s what life’s all about.  Take Thomas Edison, for instance. He has so much trouble finding a way to harness electricity for the incandescent lamp that he failed over a thousand times but he didn’t give up. His most famous quote, I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

He had a burning desire for success that most people could not match. He learned the intricacies of nurturing the mind to get the most out of what he did. This is the hallmark of personal transformation.

Most of us are not born rich, or have all the luxuries of life but we use excuses to limit the impact we could have on the world. We have to work hard, earn our keep, and make a life for ourselves and our family but if you constantly complain, get jealous of others and remain unfocused, you can never reach your potential for greatness.

What kind of personal transformation can transform your life?

1- Learn from the masters – Master motivators such Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Jim RohnBrian Tracy, and Stephen Covey know exactly what it takes to transform your mind to transform your life. Listen to them, learn from them and put into action what they teach.

2- Find the recipe for your life – Have you ever tried to bake a cake without a recipe. Unless you’re a master chef, your cake will not turn out very well. This is why you need the right recipe for you to work with. As great as those master motivators are, you must find what works for you. Take the information they give and write it down. Find what works for you and work on it until you perfect it.

3- Stop living in the prison of your mind – Sean Stephenson, the self-help author and motivational speaker who was born with osteogenesis imperfecta and stands 3 feet tall yet that doesn’t stop him from helping those who are stuck in life. He stays that we should “Never believe a prediction that doesn’t empower you.”  If you believe all the things people say about you how will you ever reach your full potential. people are jealous and don’t like to see others succeed so they try to bring us down. Sean has had to deal with that kind of thinking all his life but he never let it get him down. He succeeded despite what others said he could do. He goes on to say, “If you believe predictions that do not empower you, you will whither away and die, either physically die or your spirit will die as you just walk around the world like a carcass that is just following the masses.”  You must always be learning, always be growing and always be your biggest supporter. If not, then you’ll be watching from the sidelines as others get the things you want for yourself. You’ll be stuck in the prison of your own mind and will never get out.

How Do You Transform Your Mind To The Word Of God?

No transformation would be complete without God. But no matter how much you change your mind, your ways or your beliefs, without God, it will be all for nothing. You see, God is always in our corner, giving us the chance to change both our hearts and souls for the betterment of mankind.

To complete the change, we must give up ourselves for the Lord so that He can transform us to the likeness of the Father in heaven. We read this in Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

What does this mean? It means submitting to the will of God and transforming our minds and hearts to living and knowing the wisdom of God. It is one thing to change from bad to good, from angry to loving and from hating to loving but if we do not know god’s will for us then that change is only temporary. Your personal transformation depends on the renewal of your mind. As Pastor John Piper puts it, “Transformation is a profound, blood-bought, Spirit-wrought change from the inside out.” It is a change that literally brings us to our knees at the cross of Jesus Christ.

Pastor John goes on to say that transformation is freedom. “And that’s what transformation means: When you are transformed in Christ you love to do what you ought to do. That’s freedom.”

When transformed, our minds are freed to enjoy God’s unconditional love. But it goes further than that. We are fallen beings who need to transform our minds. In Ephesians 4:17-18, we are told, “Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.”

Our hardness of heart starts in the mind and if we don’t transform our minds we will be alienated from God. In order to transform our hearts we must allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. It works from outside in by exposing our minds to God’s truth through the gospel by reading the Bible and seeing the light of Christ. And through the inside out by making us humble to the point of allowing God’s truth to live inside of us.

Many people are still battling the demons in their mind, hoping the transformational promise of 2 Corinthians 5:17 comes true: ” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

So how do we access the power of personal transformation?

Accessing The Full Power Of Personal Transformation

Transformation is not just for individuals who have hit rock bottom or need a change of scenery but for everyone who wants to be the best version of themselves. In 2 Timothy 1:7, we find the answer: “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” That’s where we start!

According to David Batty, “First, you must accept responsibility for renewing your mind. After all, it is your mind! So what does it mean to renew your mind? We need to learn to think like God thinks. We need to get rid of our sinful attitudes, our negative, critical ways of thinking, our selfish thoughts.”

You must make the attempt to access God’s love. We are told in James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” When we humbly come to God and ask for forgiveness, He is there waiting for us. He gives us the wisdom we need to travail the potholes of life and opens up our hearts so that we can learn His ways and His thoughts.

Ephesians 4:22-25 gives us the recipe for this: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”

Our transformation depends on avoiding those things that cause us to sin. You cannot transform your mind if you fill it with garbage. You must learn to nourish the mind as you do your body so that you do not allow satan to corrupt you.

Making The Leap From Transforming Your Mind To Transforming Your Life

Once we are able to transform our minds we are well on our way to transforming our lives. The problem is, most people forget this step. They think that once they change their minds, everything is set but that’s not the case.

According to Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book, “How to Transform Your Life”, the buddhist monk writes, “When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem, but in reality whatever problems we experience come from the mind. If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us; indeed, we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind.

The state of mind determines how far our transformation takes us. It will be a very brief one if we continue on the journey with a negative mindset. We must allow the seeds of transformation to take root and grow and then nurture them in a loving way. If we beat ourselves us every time we fail, we’d never get anywhere in life.

Personal transformation is a process that we all go through and is different for everyone. My transformation will be different than yours but we determine how much of an impact our transformation will have.

What will your impact have?

Will you do amazing things in your life? Will you stay behind the scenes and make a difference in the lives that need your help or will you get out in the forefront and be a recognizable leader in your field? Either way, personal transformation is a real-world affair that that changes more than just your life.

The Final Step To Transforming Your Mind That Transforms Your Life

You can do everything you possibly can to transform your life but there are things you must do in order to complete the transformation. These things are often missed in our quest to transform our lives.

1- Are You Putting The Needs Of Others Before Your Own Needs? – This journey that you’ve been on has been all about you but the most successful people have already learned how to put the needs of others first. They are the type of people who make others feel special and loved. The more you transform your personality, your thoughts, your words, and your actions, the less they should end up being totally about yourself.  Your day is filled with endless opportunities to connect with others and show unconditional love. This is the hallmark of a truly enlightened being.

Here’s a few powerful examples of this type of attitude.

  • On June 9, 2017, a young women by the name of Casey Spelman saw a blind man, Yusef Dale, struggling to hail a cab after a game a Wrigley Field in Chicago without much luck. She noticed that no one would help the man so she came over to offer assistance. While they waited for the cab to arrive, they chatted about baseball and how crowded it was after a saturday afternoon game. Once the cab arrived, she helped him in, gave him a hug goodbye and went off not knowing that someone captured the whole episode in pictures.
  • Josiah Duncan, a 5 year old boy was eating out a The Waffle House in Prattville, Alabama when he asked his mother who the disheveled man was in the corner that everyone ignored. His mother explained to him that he was homeless and the boy did something no one expected . He asked him mom to buy the man dinner and before the homeless man could eat his burger, little Josiah said the blessing over the food. He brought the entire  restaurant to tears including the homeless man. His Mother Ava said “You never know who is an angel on Earth, and then when the opportunity comes at you you should never walk away from it,”

2- Are You Leading By Example? – The world is full of followers who never get anywhere in life. Are you the type of person who leads by example? How you treat others, how and what you say about others as well as how you act around others can have a powerful impact on the world around you you.

Here’s a few powerful examples of this type of demeanor.

  • In Ephesians 4:29-32, we are told, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” It’s not about how strong you are but the inner strength to do what is right when everyone around you thinks differently.
  • In 1 Peter 3:8-12, we read this power verse: “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” We see evil everyday but most of us are not strong enough to speak out or even worry about it but there will always be consequences for our inaction. Personal development cannot happen if do not posses a kind and loving heart.

3- Are You A Beacon Of Integrity Wherever You Go? – To have integrity means being true to your own moral and ethical beliefs and doing nothing to dishonor them. You must recognize that you are a model for others to follow.

Here are a few ways that integrity plays a key role in your personal transformation.

  • Always keep your promise no matter how difficult
  • Never betray a person’s trust
  • Do not gossip or say unkind words about someone
  • Be consistent in your thoughts, words, and actions
  • Speak out when others are in trouble
  • Do not let others take blame for your mistakes

Personal transformation can a be a long and gruelling process but when your heart and mind are in the right place you will transform both your life and the lives of others. That is why you were put here on this earth.

The Myth Of Finding Your Life’s Passion

find your passion

What Is Your Life’s Real Passion?

find your passion

Is passion missing from your life? Are you living with a lack of real purpose? We put way too much emphasis on living out our true purpose in life but passion and purpose may not be all they’re cracked up to be.

Say what?

You soldier through life hoping your passion takes over and you live the life you were meant to live but what if that type of thinking was all wrong? What if your time could be better spent unlocking your true potential and working towards improving your talents?

I can remember when I was a young boy. All I wanted to do was play sports. Morning, noon, and night my life was consumed by sports. Whether it was baseball, basketball or football, that was my passion. I worked hard at my game. I honed my skills, studied the game, and did everything I could to be the best I could be.

Did I end up becoming a professional ballplayer? No. Why not? No matter how passionate I was, I realized I wasn’t ever going to be good enough to be a professional athlete but I wasn’t the only one. Was I devastated? Kind of, but it didn’t ruin me. I knew I was more than just a ballplayer. I had other talents that I could fully exploit. This is why I believe in the myth of finding your passion in life because we are more than just our passions.

God has given all of us many talents that we can use to change the world. Just because you can’t do one thing great doesn’t mean there aren’t other talents you can use that will fulfill your vast potential. God knows what’s right for you and all of your talents work together to make you the person you are.

Is Your Life’s Passion Holding You Back?

Ask any student in college what they want to do with their lives and many cannot honestly answer that question. They’re still trying to find themselves and need to see the bigger picture in life. Forcing them to find their passion and concentrate on that particular field of study may not be the best idea. In fact, it may put too much pressure on them and take the focus on the becoming a well-rounded person.

Why is that?

Sometime, passions are things that make us happy right now but in the long run may fade away. They may be things that give pleasure in the short term but are not things you can make a living at right now.

For me, writing has become my passion. It was something I always loved doing but until I realized I couldn’t make a living with sports did I alter my plans for life. Now that I’ve been writing for years, my passion has grown as well as my respect for writers in general.

What are you passionate about? Does it make you happy? Can you make a living at it? These are valid questions you must ask yourself before you make a decision about both your passion and your purpose. If you can’t answer these questions honestly, then your passions and purpose need to be adjusted.

What your life looks like 10, 20 even 30 years in the future will all be based on the decisions you make now so you better have a good idea whether your passion fit your purpose or you will be one sorry and frustrated individual.

Missing The Opportunity To Find Your Real Passion

For our entire lives, we have been told that we need to have a singular mission and that is to find our passion. Once we find that, it will lead us to a successful and happy existence. Well, that doesn’t always work.

Are you a failure if you don’t find it? I don’t think so. Are you going to live a life less than perfect with all the stress of living up to a purpose that may or may not be for you? Let’s hope not.

Author Terri Trespicio states that, “Passion is not a plan, it’s a feeling. And feelings change.”  She goes on to say, “We continue to use passion as the yardstick to judge everything, instead of seeing passion for what is really is: the fire that ignites when you start rubbing sticks together.”

We feel that if we don’t find the passion in our lives that we’ll get on the wrong train at the wrong time and go down the wrong road and everything will all be for naught in our lives but that is just fear playing with us.

Terri goes on to say, “You don’t create your life and then live it. You create it by living it, not agonizing about it.” She finishes by saying that, “Passion is not a job, a sport, or a hobby. It is the full force of your attention and energy that you give to whatever is right in front of you. And if you’re so busy looking for this passion you could miss opportunities that change your life.”

If you don’t have a great passion, does that mean you’re not interesting or ambitious? Heck no!

Let me tell you how to uncover your real passion. How to live life without the tunnel vision you’ve been stuck in since you were a little kid.

what is your passion

Find Your Passion And You Find Your Purpose

The first thing you need to do is stop waiting for passion to show up because you’ll be waiting a very long time! Instead, be a problem solver. That means, find problems that need to be solved. People will pay you for your problem-solving abilities.

The difference between following your passion and living your purpose comes with having  a clear message while prioritizing your time and energy.

Do your talents empower who you are inside? Is this for yourself or are you doing things unselfishly for others?

That’s a big key here. Don’t burden yourself with a monumental decision that overwhelms you. You can’t do anything if you are totally overwhelmed. Don’t jump too far ahead of the game. Your goal is to think in the here and now where you are following your excitement.

Your talents are like a personal taxi which bring you along to each avenue of your life. If you need to get off at a particular stop, you’re not strapped in too tight to any one destination. Talents and passion go together and compliment one another but they do not determine whether they are your final destination.

There are always bumps in the road. That is why you need to focus on a theme that you can connect with.

Here are 7 questions that can help you find your passion and begin the journey:

  1. What floats your boat without boring you to death?
  2. What do you want to be known for when you pass on from this life?
  3. Can you see yourself doing this 5-10 years in the future and why?
  4. What problems do you like solving and why?
  5. Do you spend your time doing things you love surrounded by like-minded people?
  6. Does the authentic you shine through or is this all about the money?
  7. Who is this for… you or someone else?

If you can honestly answer these questions then you’re on the right track. I’ve seen far too many people look at passion from a financial standpoint and they let that rule their decision-making process. Things will come up that will rock your boat so you have to be flexible in your attitude.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you comes alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Howard Thurman

Are you open to the possibilities of life? Everything that has happened in your life to this point has been a teaching lesson. It has gotten you ready for what you were put here on earth to accomplish but you have to understand this one important idea:

When you share yourself to the world, nothing is as important staying true to yourself. You can drift through life as if it were a dream but is the true you standing out from the crowd? You see, passion originally meant suffering (as in Jesus suffering on the cross) so in order to find your true passion, you will need to go through many trials and tribulations which is why you must stay authentic to your own personal ideals and beliefs.

This is called empowerment. True passion feeds off this power. It gives you insight into what you need to do to carry that passion forward, what experiences you need to offer the world that can help others, and finally, what action you need to take to make your purpose a reality.

Passion and purpose are not easy. It’s not all peaches and cream. There will be potholes along the way. You will be angry at your situation, feel like quitting and think you made the wrong decision but that is how you grow. Most people give up when time get tough but Benjamin Disraeli, the 19th century British Prime Minister one said, “Man is only great when he acts out of passion.”

What are you acting out of? Only you can answer that!

The word is full of amateurs who are walking down the wrong path in life believing what all the experts have to say about passion and purpose. Be different. be unique but be careful. Learn all you can about what you are passionate about and allow life to to dictate what you do for things change and I would hate for you not to change with it.

How To Live An Authentic Christian Life

Living the authentic life

Living An Authentic Christian Life

Living the authentic life

How do you go about living the authentic Christian life in such a way that you are actually living your life according to God’s word? For most of us, it takes some doing since we are also prone to the whims of society. It’s a fine line we must walk through with many challenges along the way. Our hearts and minds must be one with God’s word and our actions must spring from a humility deeply rooted in service to others.

Is this something you can do and do without complaining?

It’s something all Christians must do battle with especially in a world that does not agree with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

An authentic Christian must be able to open their hearts to the world and show unconditional love even if they themselves are going through trials and tribulations. God never said it would be easy and he tries our patience but it is meant to make us stronger in the faith and stronger in our determination to do God’s will among His people.

What then is an authentic Christian and is it possible to be one in the 21st century?

In Philippians 2:12–13 it states, Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence – continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Can we obey God and still be authentic or do we give up who we are to become what God wants of us?

Many Christians find being an authentic Christian too hard and fall away from the faith but God has plans for you. In Matthew 22:14, we are told “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” You have been chosen for this and God will be there to guide you in your mission.

How Do I Live the Authentic Christian Life?

The authentic Christian life begins and ends with trust. Trusting in God’s word that He shall redeem us for our many sins and that we are loved no matter what. Trust is something in short supply as we have been burned many times before. Unlike humans, God’s word is absolute and when He says something you can be sure it will happen.

Trust also has another side to it that we must understand. We are to be trustworthy as much as we trust in God. For if we cannot be trusted, how can God use us for His ultimate glory? Trust isn’t an easy thing to commit to but we learn how to commit ourselves to Him in daily prayer. We find His faithfulness in response to our prayers.

Proverbs 3:5-6 asks us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  God directs our pathway so that we His will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.

Authentic Christians are transparent in who they are. They understand that life sometimes throws a wrench in their plans but they see the bigger picture. They have learned through life’s hard knocks that even though we experience pain and suffering at times it is for our own good. Being transparent brings joy and peace to a Christian’s heart and so they act with honesty and love in all their dealings especially to one another.

In 1 John 1:7-9 we see how an authenticity lives in transparency. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” This transparency comes in confession of our sins. We are afforded His forgiveness of our transgressions as walk in truth and God’s light.

Megan Hill, who writes the writes Sunday Women, a weekly blog about ministry life says this about being an authentic Christian. “Authenticity is transparency and admission of failure. It’s the rejection of pretense and hypocrisy. It’s truth-telling about all areas of life.” This fits perfectly in how Christians not only should act, but pray and think. It is not about trying to be perfect or act perfect or even show perfection but a way to be.

The Beatitudes convey this message in all it’s glory. They echo the highest ideals of Jesus’ teachings on spirituality and compassion

  1. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven – We know we have nothing apart from Christ and we realize in our spiritual poverty we need God’s help in all matters. It’s all about surrendering ourselves to God.
  2. Blessed are those who mourn: for they will be comforted – Our mourning leads us to God comforts who is the comforter of all. It is through Him we find repentance and forgiveness.
  3. Blessed are the meek: for they will inherit the earth – To be meek is to express our inward humility, strength and spiritual balance. We walk in the peace of God through the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
  4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled – It is our hunger for the word of God that brings righteous to our circumstances. We need nourishment that only God can quench.
  5. Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy  Our lives are to be marked with the compassion, love and care that jesus showed during His time on earth. Only then shall mercy be carried out.
  6. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God – Purity is a sign of the authentic Christian love we offer to the world but we must realize that God is the one who initiates, sanctifies and perfects our hearts.
  7. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God – To be a children of God is to offer peace. Peace to your enemies, peace to your neighbor. It is the true essence of God’s love for you are to do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
  8. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven – We are meant to live righteously according to the commandments of God and though we may suffer in this world we suffer for what is right. God suffered so it is not in the suffering or pain we feel but  we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory to be revealed.
  9. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account – Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

What Makes An Authentic Christian?

They don’t name it the Christian life for nothing. Each day we are bombarded with sinful messages that try their best to pull us away from God. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don’t. In all of this we must understand one true principle of being an authentic Christian; We must confesses Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. But it’s not enough to just say it.

In James 2:19, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder.” The difference is, we are live out the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control;

But it goes much deeper than this.  People are watching you as a Christian. What you do has consequences.

It should be obvious that God wants us to be authentic in our Christian lives since we are charged to “no longer conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” and to “put off the old self” our old way of life and “put on the new self” our new way of life through Jesus Christ. God desires for us to live an authentic Christian life, society expects that we live an authentic Christian life and again, they are watching.

Christians value humility. We recognize that we are broken and that God must heal us. Going around thinking you can do anything may seem like you are strong but we are all broken in one way or another and the strongest thing you can do is be meek and humble unto the Lord for He will fix your brokenness and heal your sins.

Megan Hill goes on to talk about our perfect future. “For Christians, our true self is found in Christ, and we are on a pilgrimage to become more like him. As 1 John 3:2 says: “We are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet appeared.” A greater reality awaits.”

That reality is why we believe what we believe. It is knowing in our hearts that something greater than us is awaiting our pilgrimage. The world sees death as a final end  but the authentic Christian works for that destination knowing God has made a way for us to reach the glory of heaven.

How to Discover Your Authentic Christian Self

First, look in the mirror. What do you see? If you don’t see the face of Christ looking back at you, you must reassess your heart. Are you truly living for God or for yourself. Remember, I said it was easy to be a Christian and that it’s a long race and many will drop out.

You can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens you but without Him you have nothing. The authentic Christian self compromise his faith for the pleasures of the world. You must look beyond that and see God in all things.

We are asked to be imitators of Christ but if our dealings don’t echo that who are we imitating? In Philippians 3:8-9, the Apostle Paul writes, “What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.”

David Schaal, Pastor of Christian Life Fellowship in Quincy, California tells us, “To be a real Christian, means that we need to PURSUE Righteousness –  We need to stop justifying it as a right. We need to look at sin through the eyes of God, rather from our own sinfulness.”

This is how an authentic Christian lives, through the eyes of God and into the hearts of man. Its not a game that we play but a life we live. John 13:35 states, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” That authentic and unconditional love is the most important virtue an authentic Christian can have. It is what motivates us and gives us direction.

If there is no authenticity in the Christian life then a Christian you are not for many who go to church resemble Christians, but lack real authenticity to live the Christian life. They have no living relationship with Jesus Christ.

Society wants us to fit in… to be part of the collective. It doesn’t like like those who are different or authentic. Living as an authentic Christian is not for the faint-hearted. It takes a mountain of faith, an ocean of trust and an unwavering belief that without God, we have no life.

You must create a life you love with God at the front and center. Mother Teresa once said this about Christian service, “There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in – that we do it to God, to Christ, and that’s why we try to do it as beautifully as possible.”

We find our authenticity in our service to others. The same service that others before us has given. Ephesians 4:22-24,tells us, “To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

That is how an authentic Christian lives and that is how I live. Are you ready to take your authenticity to Christ?

How To Commit A Random Act Of Kindness

Helping Others With Random Acts of Kindness

acts of kindness

Are you happy and satisfied with how your your life is right now?

Did you know there are others who are not quite as satisfied as you? In this world of self-gratification, many people are facing situations that would try the best of us. Have you ever thought about what you could do to brighten up someone else’s day? A small act of random kindness can easily put a smile on the face of a stranger in more ways than you might think.

What kind of acts can make another person feel special?

This where you can get creative. It’s not about what you do but the act itself and what is behind it. In Galatians 5:22-23we read,But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Can you find a way to be gentle with someone?

How about showing love and offering peace to someone who is suffering with a lack of both?

The loving act of kindness and  brings forth a renewed spirit in the receiver and a warm and gentle heart in the giver. It is in the spirit of giving that we also receive so much in return. You should never underestimate the impact you will have with a single act of kindness. a

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ” — Leo Buscaglia

That is what random acts of kindness are all about. Helping to turn a life around… even if it is for just a moment. It’s all about restoring humanity’s faith in one another.

Committing Random Acts Of Kindness

How can you inspire kindness in others? It all comes down to what’s in your heart. If you are willing to love your neighbor like yourself, then going out of your way to show kindness is the next logical step.

Here are some great ways to to show random acts of kindness without hesitation:

1- Find opportunities to compliment others. It doesn’t take any time and is the best way to make someone feel special. Why just think it when you can say it for real!

2- Take the time to send cards to sick children in the hospital. Just imagine the pain they are going through. Wouldn’t you want someone to write to you if you were in that situation?

3- Send a care package to a soldier overseas. It could mean the world to a lonely soldier who hasn’t seen their family in months or even years. They are here to protect you, show them you appreciate their sacrifices.

4- Donate flowers to a nursing home. Show some of the elder women and men how much you appreciate all they have done in their lives. Don’t forget to personalize it to show you really mean it.

5- Join the bone marrow registry. Cancer patients need your bone marrow and just a few minutes of your time can save a life. All it takes is a swab from your mouth and if you are a match you can save a life.

6- Donate your unwanted things with to your local Goodwill Store. There is always someone  in need and you can make someone very happy with your gift.

7-Want to grant a wish of a foster child? One Simple Wish is a repository of requests made by foster children in which case workers submit for the children themselves. These funds are used to help purchase simple things that these kids don’t normally have the money to buy.

8- Print extra store coupons and give them out to families that can use them. Most families are having trouble in this economy and a few dollars here and there really helps!

9- Help people move out of their house or help your new neighbors move in. Everybody can always use a helping hand.

10-Fill a kindness jar with spare change for a family in need.

These are just ten random acts of kindness and have a far reaching effect on those who are the benefactors. I’m sure you could think of a hundred more but the idea is to make it a challenge for yourself to help others less fortunate than yourself.

The Benefits Of A Random Act Of Kindness

When you help others out without being asked you bring a  little bit of happiness to a world struggling to show love and care. People around you will view you in a different light and hopefully join you in showing love and kindness to others..

Have you ever been on the receiving end of a nice gesture, such as someone holding the door for you? Notice how it makes you feel as though you want to return the favour to someone else, almost immediately. It’s true, one act of kindness is often the starting point for more actions.

According to ” Sonja Lyubomirsky, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside. “People who engage in kind acts become happier over time, When you are kind to others, you feel good as a person — more moral, optimistic, and positive,”  This research found that performing  positive acts for others at least once a week led to the most happiness.

David R. Hamilton PhD, writes in his May 30, 2011 article entitled, “The 5 Side Effects of Kindness” that “Acts of kindness are often accompanied by emotional warmth. Emotional warmth produces the hormone, oxytocin, in the brain and throughout the body. Of recent interest is its significant role in the cardiovascular system.

Oxytocin causes the release of a chemical called nitric oxide in blood vessels, which dilates (expands) the blood vessels. This reduces blood pressure and therefore oxytocin is known as a ‘cardioprotective’ hormone because it protects the heart (by lowering blood pressure). The key is that acts kindness can produce oxytocin and therefore kindness can be said to be cardioprotective.”

Giving has a great effect not only on the physical side but the mental aspect also. Don’t underestimate the power that giving has. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, we learn: The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

What type of act of loving kindness can you give? How can you open your heart to someone who really needs it at this time?

My challenge to you is to be the one who makes the effort to help others. Be the the one who doesn’t care what others think and takes it upon themselves to make a difference in the world.

How To Live A Righteous Life In World Filled With Sin

living righteously

Living A Righteous Life Among The Sinful

living righteously

We are all sinners. That much we can all agree. The problem arises when we must try to live a righteous life in a world that takes sin for granted. From our elected officials to the protesters in the street, the idea of sin has become passe.

The world doesn’t want to acknowledge its sinfulness as being wrong because we are judging people based on their actions and we don’t know their situation. But God does judge and He is the one who determines what is and isn’t a sin.

Those of us who try our best to govern our lives by holy scripture and live according to the Ten Commandments, work at cultivating a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe freedom comes from giving ourselves over to Christ and we are motivated by love.

How often to we acquiesce to the morals of society when we should be remaining attentive to the presence of God in every part of our life?

What Does Cultivating Holiness Entail?

As devoted Christians, we must “Set our sights on things above – not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2). It is practicing our faith through prayer, supplication and reverence and feeding our soul through God’s word.

“In everything give thanks” (Thessalonians  5:17) is our call to be thankful to the One who provides everything we need. Whatever we do, it must come from a thankful heart. The power of thank you is something most of us take for granted but goes a long way in pushing us closer to God.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.” ((Philippians 2:3) Loving others as ourselves is the second of God’s great commandments. While Jesus wants us to love Him with all our hearts, all our souls and all our being, He also wants us to love others in the same way. This gives our brothers and sisters importance in everything we do.

Learning To Embrace The Power Of God’s Word

Without God’s word, we would be a lost and lonely people.  It is our job to “Hate what is evil and cling to what is good” (Romans 12:9). God’s word is good!  It is the mind of God and contains His will for each one of us. In Proverbs 30:5-6, it is written,“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”

His words help us find the righteousness we need to live in purity. We find the plan for our life written in the words of the bible and “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  Timothy 3:16-17

God’s word promises us eternal salvation but if we do not live by the word we shall surely die by it. Pastor Chip Ingram puts it succinctly when he writes, “The very foundation of our Christian faith is based on whether or not we trust the validity of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the validity and authority of the Bible as God’s word.”

God’s word is a seed that is planted in our hearts and builds from a mustard seed to a bountiful harvest.  Romans 10:10 states, “For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation”

God’s word gives life to us. We read it in John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

The power of God’s word is like medicine. It cures what ails us, brings it brings life to us and total healing to all parts of our body. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new – 2 Corinthians 5:17

The Benefits Of Righteous Living

What are the rewards of a righteous life?

The way we live our life determines whether we are blessed by God or cursed.

Here are 10 benefits that the righteous will enjoy for living a life based on God’s love.

1- What the righteous desire will be granted (Proverbs  10 : 24)

2- The righteous will rejoice in the fruit of their deeds (Isaiah 3 : 10)

3- The righteous are not lift alone in times of troubles (Psalms 34:17)

4- The righteous will not be forsaken by God (Psalms 37:25)

5- The righteous has eternal life (Matthew 25:46)

6- God wants to help with your burdens (Psalms 55:22)

7- Our inheritance is from God (Psalms 37:29)

8- It pleases God and fulfills His purposes for us (Philippians 2:13)

9- God Blesses The Home Of The Righteous (Proverbs 3:33)

10- God Blesses The Righteous With Joy (Prov 10:28)

When we live a righteous life, God will bless us from His bountiful nature. Not just in this life but in the life to come. It gives us full access to His promises. Righteousness does not comes from words but from our actions and through His love is made perfect in Jesus Christ

For you to live righteously in a sinful world, it takes plenty of faith and love but God has not left you alone in your pursuit. He has given us His word to strengthen our character, to open our hearts to all the possibilities of His love and has made it possible to live by grace in a world that hates good and tempts us with sinful behavior.

Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor. Proverbs 21:21

3 Secrets To Practicing The Art Of Loving Kindness

how to make friends

3 Secrets To Practicing The Art Of Loving Kindness

how to make friends

Do you wish you knew the secret to making others feel special?

I recently went on a business trip to Houston, Texas for a marketing convention and I was floored by how I was treated. I’ve never been in Texas before but I had heard stories about how Texans are bighearted and tend to treat you like you’re family.

Well, let me say those stories are absolutely true!  I learned a whole lot about how to treat people I’ve never met and how to make them feel special. They showed me the true art of loving kindness.

Being an introvert from New Jersey, I wasn’t used to the over-the-top way that Texans make you feel comfortable. It was a real eye-opener to say the least!

It began straight from the airport in Houston and continued onto my hotel. I could sense this wasn’t going to be any ordinary trip. This marketing event was supposed to be about how to market myself but a strange event occurred to me after the first day of the event.

I was looking for a place to relax and unwind after a long day so  I walked into this cozy little restaurant and sat down away from everyone to catch my breath. Now here’s what got my attention. It wasn’t just the waitress who greeted me with a hello but everyone in the place said hello.  They made me feel like they were waiting all day for me to arrive just  so that they could take care of my every need.

Now, this wasn’t some five star restaurant we’re talking about here but a small, out-of-the-way place that served good food. I enjoyed every bite of that meal as if it were my last one.

The Practice Of Loving Kindness

In Mark 12:20-31, Jesus instructs us to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

In that one instance, the people of Houston practiced loving kindness in a way that I had never experienced. But this wasn’t a one time thing. Oh no! This happened time and time again. It amazes me how people in one place can show loving kindness to a stranger one day and in another place show hate when a gunman injured nine in a rampage just days before I arrived.

God’s unconditional love is the most important thing to me and here I am, witnessing firsthand from people who aren’t rich, have just been through a tragedy and just want to make a life for themselves and their family.

How often do we go out of our way to make someone special?

How often do we put the needs of others ahead of ourselves?

The first secret to practicing loving kindness is learning how to treat people in a way that makes them feel special. It’s not a game or showmanship but a deep abiding feeling of caring for others first before your own needs.

The more you show love to others in the small things the easier it will be to show love when love is hard to find.

Living Your Authentic Self Through The Art Of Loving Kindness

There’s a big difference between living your authentic self and manufacturing authenticity. The people of Houston were authentic in how they treated me. I have no doubt that’s how they treat everyone. That’s the way it should be but sometimes we try to fake it to make it seem real.

Maybe we’re in a bad mood or don’t feel well but those are just excuses. Those that practice loving kindness come from a place deep inside that doesn’t have to manufacture anything but true love.

God asks us to live a life of purpose that sends out love to everyone with the sole intention of making a difference in the world. at you and said hello with a deep-seated and authentic voice

Can you make a difference by just saying hello?

I think you can and let me prove it.

Ever had one of those days that everything goes wrong? Where nothing makes sense or you feel like a square peg in a round hole?

I have and it can take a real toll on our psyche.  You don’t feel like dealing with anyone anywhere at all.

But, what if someone smiled and said hello with an authentic and compassionate voice. Wouldn’t that brighten an otherwise miserable day?

It sure would! It’s one of those things that comes out of the blue and warms our soul. I try to be that person for others because I know what it feels like.  I try to understand what others are feeling because I know I can brighten their day without saying a word. Just an authentic smile and paying attention to the feelings of others is the second secret of loving kindness.

Learn How To Love Out Loud

The term, loving out loud is used by evangelist Joyce Meyer as a way to express our love for others. She writes, “Think of three people you know who could really use a gesture of God’s love. Then think of creative ways you can express His love to these people, and do it. I guarantee you will feel a wonderful sense of fulfillment and joy afterward.”

Loving kindness comes from a place of expressing God’s love for others. It is living joyfully and showing the world you actually do care what happens to it.

What would happen if the roles were reversed and you were the one who needed comfort or a smile. Wouldn’t you want someone to step forward and show loving kindness to you?

Most people are so concerned with their own lives they don’t look for ways to express God’s love to their neighbors. The people of Houston did that for me and they exhibited the third secret which is loving others out loud.

Let me ask you a question.

What would it take for you to step into the shoes of another person and see what their life is like? We all lead busy lives but when you show your love to others it brings us all just a little bit closer to God.

How do you change the way you deal with others and yourself? How do you use unconditional love to make a difference in the world?

That is exactly what I teach you in my new book entitled “Summoned To Love – A Spiritual Blueprint for Rediscovering Inner Peace, Unconditional Love, And True Happiness.”

World Peace Day – Promoting The Power Of Love

“We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.”

William Ewart Gladstone

power of love

Ahh, the power of love!  Everyone talks about it but society hasn’t had much luck in making it stick.  The United Nations instituted World Peace Day in 1981 and has used it to promote peace and awareness among human beings. It is supposed to be a day for promoting ceasefire among warring nations but it has been a full-fledged failure  so far.  Terrorists ignore the day and violent crime is getting worse all the time.

In order to promote peace we must promote love first. Not the sappy and syrupy kind but the type that puts others first and stands firmly behind caring for one another. This is the unconditional love called for by God in the bible.

Why Can’t We Have Lasting Peace?

Sin, selfishness and unforgiveness are the main reasons why peace has never flourished. You would think that a world so technologically advanced, there would be more time to care for each other but that’s not the case.

The power of love is the only way peace can reign but there are dark forces that do not want peace in the world. As a Christian, peace and love are at the center of who we are and what we believe but Christians are facing uncertain times. To be a Christian and practice our beliefs goes to the heart of what the International Day of Peace stands for but don’t let that fool you for a second.

The United Nations is not Christian-friendly and never has been. They will never promote Christian values and it is left to us to promote peace and love the only way we know how… through the love of Jesus Christ.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble but the only way to promote peace. Peace and love must come from the heart and lived everyday. They are not just some random words that makes you look good.

As a Christian, it is my duty because I have been commanded by God to love others. How I promote peace and love is how I live my life. Without God, there is no love to promote. They go hand and hand. We must first learn how to love others before we can bring peace into this world for if there is no love then we will have no peace!

How To Promote Peace And Love

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Promoting peace comes from a heart filled with love not a mind bent on control. Peace is not in the eye of the beholder but from the depths of their soul. It’s a misnomer that to make peace you must use peace. I’m not condoning the use of force but when the difference between right and wrong has been perverted to the point that peace is just a phrase that holds no meaning we must all be vigilante to the point of standing up for what right.

Hate is a very strong force that doesn’t take a day off. We all see how certain people like to hurt people with their words and get off on making others angry.

Marji J. Sherman, a Media Marketing Master put this type of love in perspective when she said; “Promoting what you love, instead of bashing what you hate carries into our personal lives as well. Would you rather read a bunch of social posts about how much life and other people suck?! Or, would you rather be inspired and motivated when you’re on social by the accomplishments and kindness of others? (I know, easier said than done, but something to think about).”

We need to be motivated by love to bring love to the forefront. Any day that promotes peace must not have an agenda for hate in other areas that is why the International Day of Peace falls way short of it’s goals.

With hunger, religious persecution, socialist and communist governments mistreating their own people, how do you expect a world day of peace to do any good?

Most governments couldn’t care less about the International Day Of Peace unless it makes them look good. Just ask the millions and millions of starving and economically impoverished people all over the world. Do you think they welcome a peace day? Not if it doesn’t do any good for them.

It starts out with small acts of kindness from individuals and then grows until it is like a snowball that picks up speed and leads to real change where everyone benefits, not just the rich bureaucrats and dictators.

What Can One Individual Do For Peace?

Be someone who can raise awareness of what is happening and start showing real care to your neighbor. Stop to think how other people feel and take a real interest in what is going on around you. Get off your cellphone and start communicating with the world. If you see an injustice… do something about it?

If you can, help someone who needs it. Don’t worry if you have no money. It’s the small things we do that helps people in  ways that we will never know. Be someone who can be trusted and you will attract love in return.

Find your own way to spread peace among men and lift all of this to God and you will be blessed. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son for the ransom of many. If God loves us that much, can’t we try to love others with the same feeling?

Where there’s love, peace is close at hand. Where there is peace, love thrives… and when love thrives, hate can be defeated. You just have to believe that when you promote love you are helping the world find peace.

Don’t Make Your New Year’s Resolutions All About You

Your New Year’s Resolutions

happy new year

Every January 1st, people conspire to put together a New Year’s resolution they can stick to but by the end of the month, 99% have given up on trying to implement their resolutions and go back to their old habits and ways of thinking and doing things.

Why is this so?

Old habits die hard for most people but even if they truly believe in their resolutions the will is too weak to follow through.
