The Best Ways To Live Happier And Healthier In 2019

Living Happier In The New Year

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

Let’s face it, 2018 didn’t work out so well for many of us but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to use last year as a learning process to make 2019 your best year yet. You deserve to live a happier and healthier life no matter what your circumstances are as of this moment.

Those resolutions you made last January are long gone so let’s put the past behind us and begin by taking stock of what we can do now to make 2019 a very special year.

Do you want to live a happier and healthier 2019 without feeling like you’re going through the same old motions?

What was it about 2018 that gave you the most trouble?

Did you have money issues? Health issues? Relationship problems?

All of us can use a little more help in these areas and hopefully, you can open both your heart and mind to allow some worthwhile strategies to get the most out of your time, money and relationships.

Let me ask you this. How did 2018 turn out for you?

For me, health and money problems topped the list. Having been a survivor of 2 near-fatal car accidents, I know the value of being healthy. Two major back operations topped my list of the most painful moments of 2018 but I am working towards getting back into better health.

As far as my finances go, my health took it’s toll on my financial situation as well. Because I was laid up for a good portion of 2018, I wasn’t able to write as many books as I wanted and my business suffered for it.

So, what am I doing to make 2019 my best year ever?

In order to help you with your own problems, I’m going to show you some of the things I’m doing to improve my own 2019 and beyond. This way, we can work together to improve our lives on a daily basis.

Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself before we begin.

  • Did you feel like you didn’t accomplish the things you wanted to accomplish?
  • Did you feel like it was a lost year in terms of happiness and fulfillment?
  • Did you have trouble dealing with problems as they came into your life?
  • Did you fight and/or resist change as it happened?
  • Did you complain about things without looking for real solutions that work?
  • Did you allow or block God from helping you learn from your trials and tribulations?

I hope you answered these questions as honestly as possible.

Because, we as  humans, have the tendency to sugarcoat things and not accept the obvious as well as make things out to be worse than they really are.

This is what stops us from getting the most out of our talents and living happy and healthy lives. We don’t look at the true nature of things and search for ways to get better.

2019 might have sucked but so what? It’s time to change your mindset and get on the pathway to an abundant life.

You can use my real world experience to solve your real world problems.

So, where do we start first?

Boosting Your Mindset In 2019

If you want to boost your overall health and live a life you can be proud of in 2019 you are going to have to make some kind of small but significant changes that can maximize your health, wealth, and happiness.

As we alluded to earlier, your mindset needs a reset.

How you look at and feel about certain things makes all the difference in the world. It’s not about how others see you but how you see yourself. The more you allow negativity to seep into your thoughts and actions the easier it will be to fail.

Negative thoughts lead to negative actions and once that happens it become self-propelling like a snowball down the side of a mountain.
What can you change about your mindset?

Here are 5 things you must do to change how you think and what patterns your thoughts take.

  1. Take Note Of What You Are Thinking At Any Given Time – Your thoughts matter and if you give them weight they can either knock you down or build you up. Stop with all the anxiety of any given situation and start thinking of positive outcomes. The more you put out positive thoughts the more they will change your circumstances. Don’t let your thoughts rule you. You must take charge, be strong and be the owner of what you think and feel.
  2. Don’t Be Manipulated By Your Feelings – How many times in the past have you let your emotions rule how you act? Probably too many to name but if you can control your emotions, you can control your thoughts. You don’t have to submerge your emotions like Spock from Star Trek but you do need to put a lid on them when they start to boil over.
  3. Put Your Thoughts Into Positive Action – Thoughts are great to have but if you are not taking the next logical step and putting them into concrete action then they are just taking up space in your mind’s hard drive. When a good thought arises, take out a notebook (you are carrying one with you wherever you go aren’t you?) and make a plan to put that thought into action. What do you have to do to make that thought a reality? Whose help do you need to you make it a reality? What steps can you take that will bring success to the forefront?  These are important questions you need to ask yourself so that you have all the information necessary to make a wise decision.
  4. Learn How To Be Logical In Your Thought Process – Logic plays a key part in how we act and feel. Without logic, we’d all pretty much go crazy. The idea is to think in logical steps. Learn how to outline your thoughts so they make sense and are easy to articulate. If you can’t explain what you want then draw them out. Anything to make your voice heard. When you know how to follow through on your thoughts life is much easier to handle.
  5. Learn Which Thoughts To Believe And Which Thoughts To Shut Out – Your mind is like a magnet. Every thought seems to get stuck in one place where they rattle around causing you stress. Soon, your mind is overloaded and you can’t think straight. Find a nice, quiet place where you can delete the thoughts you don’t need and rearrange the thoughts you want to keep into separate folders. I know the computer imagery may sound overwhelming you but if you learn which thoughts are important and which thoughts aren’t then you can concentrate your powers on those that lift you up and make you happy.

Now that we have your mindset problems taken care of, you can now put all your energies into making 2019 a year to remember.

A Healthier And Happier New You

If you want to be healthier and happier in 2019, there’s nothing stopping you from achieving your goals except one thing… you.

You can have it all but you need to believe in it. Take the appropriate action and keep working at it.

Below are my 7 lists of things you need to work on to be the best you in 2019. Use them to improve your physical. mental and emotional wellbeing.

  1. A Healthy Mind Is Nothing Without A Healthy Body – Start working out your body like you would your mind. Practice builds muscle tone and helps alleviate stress and who doesn’t want to be less stressful? Strive to eat a balanced diet that gives you the nutrition you need as well as the energy to live a healthy life. I know money plays a big part in what type of food we buy but be mindful of what you are putting in your body. The more food you eat that has artificial chemicals in them the harder your body must fight to stay healthy. If you can, learn what ingredients are in the foods you buy and try to eat more organically grown food. Because organic foods are healthier for you, you don’t need to eat as much to fill you up thus saving you money in the process. I know we can’t all totally eliminate junk food from our diets but if you strive to do it little by little it will make a big difference in your overall health.
  2. Learn How To Adjust Your Expectations So You Can Find Lasting Success – What are your expectations for your life? Contrary to popular belief, the majority of people have lower expectations of themselves than they should. Whether it comes from not believing in themselves, not wanting to do the work necessary to achieve greatness or feel it’s not worth it in the end. expectations can and should be met as part of healthy self-esteem. Lower expectations bring on lower self-esteem yet if we fail to achieve our life’s ambitions, it should not impact our love of self. In fact, it is usually in the pursuit of success that we find out who and what we are truly made of.
  3. Invest Both Time And Money In Taking Care Of Your Needs – Most people tend to spend more time taking care of others and less time on their own needs and end up tired and overwhelmed. It is not selfish to take care of yourself and it is not selfish to make sure your needs are met first. It is in balancing the two that we find happiness and fulfillment in life. How can you take care of your own needs? Take care of your own mental and emotional health by always trying to affirm the good things about yourself and working to improve what you lack. Take up meditation to improve your mind, schedule time for yourself, and probably the easiest way to take care of your needs is by laughing. Learn to laugh at yourself and just be silly. It can be just what the doctor ordered.
  4. Live With A Realistic Budget – Not accounting for emergencies, most people have no idea how to plan out a realistic budget that is both financially viable and feasible to implement. This is the reason why so many are living paycheck to paycheck. Most of the time it is not about how much you make but how much you keep. Can you live on less and still be happy in the age of economic uncertainty? This is a question you must alone decide. Do you really need that 60 inch tv or the top of the line iPhone? Once again, happiness is not derived from competing with others and what they have but being grateful for what you have.
  5. Create A Loving Heart In All Matters – Because finances, job and family take up most of our time and money, we forget what role love plays in all things. How we deal and feel about others is an important part of who we are. Unconditional love is a powerful vehicle for attaining happiness and health in your life. It can be so beautiful when we put it into practice. Things such as forgiveness, appreciation, friendship, unselfishness, and giving are all parts of a loving heart given to us by the example of Jesus on the cross. Life is not a race to see who can acquire the most. Instead, it’s about connecting with others and God in a more personal way. It’s about taking time to help others that are in need and it’s about acceptance of both ourselves and our situations. When you live by the example our Lord has given us, you can experience love in so many ways.
  6. Challenge Yourself To Get Better – It doesn’t matter what the challenge is. Your hope is to accept the challenge and try your best to better yourself and truly make a difference in your own life and the lives of others. It’s means pushing yourself harder than you ever done before and getting out of your comfort zone. It may also mean pain and disappointment but life has no guarantees. Only you can guarantee things if you work hard enough and not give up at the most critical time. Learn to embrace each new challenge put in front of you and don’t worry about failing. Failure is one of the ways we learn from and when you do, use the knowledge to better yourself for the next challenge that comes your way.
  7. Embrace Life’s Journey – In the Spring 2019 issue of SUCCESS magazine, they talk about finding success in life. They write, “Success is not so much a destination as a journey, and we are at our best when we are growing.” This is what life is really all about. It is a journey we are all on and sometimes we fall and sometimes we succeed but we have to make the attempt. The more you embrace life the more happiness, joy and abundant health you will receive but you have to go out and get it. Don’t expect it to come after you.
Bonus Tip For A Better 2019

life's a challenge

Like anything in life, you have to work at things to get better. One of the things many of us are suffering from is sleep deprivation. We’re all trying to get ahead in life and when we overwork ourselves, our health suffers.

Below is an infographic that shows the seven essential mental activities we need to incorporate into our lives so that we can function mentally at full capacity.

Sleep is so important to feeling your best but for many who are sleep-deprived, it can be a long road to nowhere. Good sleep habits refresh the body and keep the spirits up. It is also one of the best ways to keep you sharp mentally and in the type of society we function in, it’s a must!

Here are 3 ways to get more sleep and help you tackle each day, rested and relaxed.

  • Keep in sync with your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle – This cycle, better known as your circadian rhythm, is the best way to setup a your sleep pattern for a restful night sleep. This means going to bed at the same time every night. No matter how tired you are, you will be able to get to sleep without having to take medication or count sheep.
  • Control your exposure to light – Melatonin is a natural hormone the brain secretes when it is dark. When you allow your body to do its job the proper way, you won’t have any problems sleeping.
  • Clear your head before you attempt to go to sleep – Never try to go to sleep with problems on your mind. Try to keep anxiety and chronic worrying to a minimum before you lay down. Since you can’t solve all your problems right then and there, be wise and let your subconscious take care of it. More often than not, the answer will come to you after sleeping on it.

I hope these tips and important information will help inspire you to make the supreme effort to improve both your 2019 and beyond and give you the impetus to embrace life. Without happiness and health, what do we have to look forward to?

Here are some important questions all of us have had at one time or another when it comes to coping with or dealing with the effects of depression.

1- How can I put ourselves out there with a total stranger who knows nothing about my circumstances?

2- Do I really want others to know I’m suffering with symptoms of depression?

VIDEO #1 – What Is Depression? By Helen M. Farrell

Depression is the leading cause of disability in the world today; in the United States alone, almost ten percent of adults struggle with the depression. Since it’s a mental illness, it is much harder to understand and treat a person’s normal physical maladies. Helen M. Farrell talks about the various symptoms and clinical treatments of depression, and gives some great tips for cope with depression and learning what is going on with you menatally.

1- One major source of confusion is the difference between having depression and feeling depressed. Most people don’t know the difference and suffer needlessly because of it.

2- Everyone gets a bit down during their lifetime but what we all need to know is what triggers an episode. This is why it can just pop up out of thin air. Our circumstances change daily and things can get better very quickly or they can go downhill. The choice is your to make.

3- Clinical depression totally different affair. It is a qualified medical disorder and it won’t go away unless you do something about it. It can linger on until you are be diagnosed so if you have it for more than 2 weeks
consecutively and it interferes significantly with your ability to work, play and love then chances are, you can be diagnosed as clinically depressed.

4- Depression has many symptoms:

  1. Low mood
  2. Loss of interest in things you like to do
  3. Changes in appetite
  4. Feelings of worthlessness
  5. Feelings of excessive guilt
  6. Too much or too little sleep
  7. Poor concentration
  8. Constant restlessness
  9. Loss of energy
  10. Recurrent thoughts of suicide

5- If you have at least 5 of these symptoms, you qualify for a diagnosis for depression but only a qualified doctor can make the final evaluation. Once diagnosed, treating depression is much easier when you have all the facts.

6- It’s not just your behavioral symptoms that are inherent in depressive moods but physical ones as well. These manifestations occur within the brain.

  1. Changes can be seen with the naked eye
  2. Can be seen through X-rays and MRI’s
  3. Abnormal depletion of certain neurotransmitters inside the brain

7- Most doctors are still baffled as to what causes depression in humans but they are constantly working on trying to figure out the complexities so they can make it easier to treat. One major theory has to do with a person’s genes combined with their environment and how they are mixed together.

8- Nothing can accurately predict when and how severe an episode will appear nor can it predict who is struggling with it unless the person goes through a battery of tests to determine if they are qualified to be diagnosed.

9- According to The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) it takes the average person suffering with a mental illness 10 years to ask for help. This is a shame as it makes it so much harder to treat when people when they let it go for so long a period of time.

10- There are effective treatments available for those who suffer from depressive episodes. These may include medications, therapy with a trained mental therapist as well as experimental physical therapies that can boost
brain chemicals.

11- Taking the first steps to getting help can seem like an impossible dream for those suffering with a mental disorder but you can help them overcome their  feelings of guilt and shame by being there to help guide them to seek out the professional help they need to feel better..

12- It seems talking about depression can be one of the best things you can do to help a sufferer but be careful. Do not compare anything you have gone through as it will just bring out feelings of shame and makes them feel guilty for struggling with their own form of mental illness. Your love and care is just what they need to help them overcome the stigma and gives them someone they can trust in their fight for a better and normal life.

I hope these facts can help you understand what depression is and what can be done to help those or yourself overcome depression and live the life you were meant to live.

How To Deal With Depression The Proper Way

“That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end.”
Elizabeth Wurtzel

VIDEO #2 – How To Deal With Depression By Noah Elkrief

In our second video,  we have a well done video with lots of great information and tactics you can use to help you cope with all forms of depression with bestselling author, Noah Elkrief.

If you want to deal with depression effectively, the first thing you must do is have a basic understanding of what depression is and what it entails. Then, you can recognize that who you are is not a depressed person but a normal person dealing with a mental health issue.

Let’s go over what you need to learn to help you cope with this illness and what you can do to overcome it and deal effectively if the episodes come back.

1- When we feel depressed we tend to use the terminology that points directly to the I as in “I am depressed.” But are you really depressed? This is a key question that sets up the tone of the video.

2- How do you feel right now? What are you going through right now? These two questions outline the difference between what has happened before and what you are going through at this particular time. This is also a key thing to understand as now is the most important. The past is gone… worry about now.

3- Depression is just a set of feelings which may include:

  • Pressure in the chest
  • Loneliness
  • Worthlessness
  • Sadness
  • Unlike-ability
  • No willpower
  • No motivation
  • Feelings of lack

4- All of these are just expressions, a set of feelings. They do not represent who you are. Your feelings are associated with your depression but they are not depression in of themselves. It’s not who you are.

5- You were you before you had those feelings and you will still be you after those feelings go away. These feelings come at different times so your feelings can change so that does not define who the real you is.

6- During the week there are times when forget about depression or the thoughts associated with depression. It comes and goes but it’s not the real you. That’s the big distinction

7- When you believe it’s all about you, you can’t do something about it but the second you empower yourself and distance the real you from what you’re feeling, that’s when you can begin the investigation into your feelings.

8– The next thing that crops up is usually negative thoughts about yourself. Something along the lines of “I’m bad” or “It’s all my fault” or even “I’m not good enough” but those thoughts are based on negative feelings and not the truth.

9- Instead, it’s all about recognizing you are not to blame for your feelings.

10- What creates depression are your thoughts. Be open to the possibility that your thoughts are tricking you into feeling a certain way and that way is wrong. Your thoughts have a way of distracting you from the truth.

11- This is why situations can’t create depression and neither can our appearance. It stems from what we are feeling based on our thoughts. Conquer your thoughts and they can’t rule you.

12- Depression only means something about you if you don’t have control over these debilitating thoughts and feelings whether you believe them or not.

13- Do you pick what thoughts enter your mind? If you did, why would you put negative thoughts there? It’s just random thoughts that you allow to come in because you are not open to believing the good about yourself.

14- When a thought enters your mind you automatically believe it because why would you question your thoughts since they are supposed to guide you through your daily lives?

How Negative Thoughts Fuel Depression

“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.”
Laurell K. Hamilton

15- Ultimately, all you want is peace but your thoughts don’t listen to your wants so why listen to those negative thoughts when they only cause unhappiness?

16- We give attention to those thoughts and end up thinking those same thoughts over and over and over again.

17- This is why we ask this one important question. Why keep giving attention to the same stories in your head? The less you let them get to you the less depressed you feel.

18- If you don’t control your thoughts they will control you. The thoughts coming into your mind are to blame for your feelings not you, the person.

19- So, are the thoughts we are feeling always true? No, especially when they are negative in nature.

20- There are two categories of thoughts

  • Situations that cause us to think our situations are bad and they cause depression
  • Am I bad? Could it be me who is to blame?

21- Blame is something you don’t need to think about for blame is not important here. The idea is to understand this: Those thoughts of your, when they get negative, are to blame and make you feel guilty and ashamed and upset. Without those thoughts you can avoid the pain that comes with depression.

22- Stop believing those negative thoughts because they are playing tricks on you.

23- Fist comes the thought, followed by your belief in it then those feelings come rushing in. This is the same whether for negative or positive thoughts. You just need to avoid those bad thoughts or all the bad thoughts you’ve ever had will come flooding back.

24- Look at who you are, your good points and see what those negative thoughts can do to you. Turn away from those negative thoughts and see the positive in your life. Remember, you are not alone in this quest. Others have gone through the same ordeals, had the same feelings and think the same thoughts. That is not unique to
you… what is unique is that you are a special person that is stronger than you believe and can overcome anything if you understand the reasons behind depression and what you can do to overcome it.

I hope this has given you some food for thought (make sure they are positive ones) and you will see a big difference in how you feel.

Dealing With The Devastating Effects Of Depression Part 1

Dealing With The Effects Of Depression

“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
Fred Rogers

The world has become a tough place to live and work in. Many are feeling the damaging effects of having no job or lost a job over the past few years, have lost family members to cancer, drug abuse or Alzheimer’s, and know family members and friends who haven’t quite coped with all the hate and violence going on all around us but I am here to offer a glimmer of hope.

Depression… the word conjures up pictures of people sitting around the house moaning and unable to deal with life in general but it’s something we all must deal with at one time or another. Most of us either know someone who has gone through bouts of depression or is currently battling this debilitating disease. Dealing with depression has become a national epidemic with more and more people suffering everyday.

Depression holds a special place in my heart as I have gone through bouts of it myself having come from a broken family, lost my first girlfriend to leukemia and dealt with things that would have destroyed most others will to live but through it all, I had God to help me cope. I’ve wanted to give help to others by making some of this information available, so that at the very least, individuals could learn some things they can do to start dealing with depression.

Below are some videos that you can use to start dealing with depression in a caring and loving atmosphere.

Video #1 – Depression – The 7 Differences Between Men And Women By Kati Morton

Kati Morton talks about the 7 differences between men and women in how they they suffer from depression.

Did you know that women are 2x more likely than men to struggle with depression but those numbers may be a bit skewed as men do not like to admit they are depressed because it is a macho thing. Only now have
many men started to overcome the sigma and pride associated with depression and are finally coming
forward to deal with the mental aspect of depression.

One side note, doctors have only begun to treat depression in men differently than in women from both
a physical and mental aspect and are using different methods than the one-size-fits-all that was so
prevalent years past.

  1. Women tend to be the more emotional of the two sexes so they feel more sadness which leads to
self-worth problems. Men on the other hand react differently as they are more irritable and agitated.
  2. Women take their negative feelings out on themselves and internalize everything whereas men are
much more likely to lash out and blame others for what they are feeling and going through.
  3. Women cope with depression with food and friends which makes things even worse as their self
worth spirals out of control. Men, on the other hand,  cope with depression through physical means by overindulging in TV, sex, drugs and alcohol.
  4. Women let stress get the better of them, especially when it comes to life events. Men believe it’s just
a part of life so they tuck those feelings deep inside. This can be  more tragic in men as they are prone to
    do physical damage to themselves.
  5. Depression in women also leads to eating disorders. They cope by using food as a numbing agent.
Men take the high road with food because their depression attacks them physically through sex and self
  6. Depression is more debilitating to women. They tend to ruminate about it and let it eat them from
the inside out. They take these feelings with them through every relationship and have higher
expectations which can never be met. Men take out their feelings on those close to them because they can’t
deal with the awkward feelings. They don’t look for others to help them as they tend to abuse women to quell their inner pride.
  7. Women are better at reaching out for help than men and are better with opening up about their own
feelings. Men don’t like to talk about their feelings and depression seems to sneak up on them without
    their acknowledgement.

Once you understand the differences you can start coping with your own form of depression as well as
those of the opposite sex. It makes it much easier when you better understand these differences.
Hope this clears up some common misconceptions regarding men and women who suffer from

VIDEO #3 – How To Deal With The Difficult Times By Brendon Burchard

We hear so much about what depression does but we never really hear from the people suffering from depression. Watch and listen to Best-selling author and trainer, Brendon Burchard, as he talks about the depression he went through and how he deals with difficult times. You can learn a lot from his wisdom.

In this video, best-selling author and Personal Development Trainer, Brendon
Burchard talks about the five ways to deal with difficult times that help you avoid
deal with depression.

  1. Learn How To Set Small, Simple Daily Goals – Sometimes going through life’s difficulties can zap all our energies so it’s very important to set small daily goals that are both achievable and able to push you forward. This keeps you in a positive mindset and helps you feel good about yourself.
  2. Keep Perspective On Life – You can always draw strength from your past when you’ve done great things. The moments when things were good are still there and will come again. You have to have hope. That is so important during difficult times. God gives us hope in difficult times and when you take up His offer, you have an Advocate (the Holy Spirit) in your corner who loves you and wants the best for you. Take solace in the fact that you are God’s miracle and He will not forsake you. We all have difficult times… it’s how we deal with them that determines whether we get out of them or not. God will not let you fail, that’s your decision.
  3. Ask The Right Questions – Asking the right questions such as “What should I be learning here?” or “What is my purpose? “ can give you a chance to reboot your life and make good choices that can help you overcome your depression and feeling of hopelessness. To make this work for you, you need to write these questions down on a piece of paper and honestly answer them. This is a formula
for success. Many people won’t take the time to do this step but I appeal to you to make this a daily occurrence so you can draw strength.
  4. Be You’re your Best Self Despite Life’s Difficulties – Life throws us curveballs when we least expect them but you need to stay in control of your emotions. You know what your best self is and so how would that best self interact with this particular situation. Be conscious of what you do, say and feel so you can learn how to deal with your problems. Brendon says that “When times are tough, we often feel that we can’t understand or handle things, that we lack competence or capability. So, to shore up those feelings, be strategic and ask, “What could I learn now to better handle this stage of my life?” Develop a learning curriculum for yourself and start studying things that can help or advance your life.”
  5. Keep Gratitude Alive – Gratitude is the most important part of life. Why? If you aren’t grateful for what you have, you tend to become a worrier. You become selfish in your attitudes and you forget you are part of a bigger picture in God’s world. Be thankful, be appreciative and learn to love others unconditionally. Without them, life becomes and hard place to be happy in.

As a bonus, I’ve collected 10 quotes about depression from real people and what they have said about their suffering with depression. Too often, those that are suffering from depression don’t get the chance to tell their story.

Can you identify with any of these quotes?
1- “Before you can see the light you have to deal with the darkness. Don’t let your struggle become your identity.”
2- “You feel like you’re in a constant state of worry.”
3- “It limits what you can do in your life.”
4- “It’s a state of mind where nothing you can make you feel better.”
5- “Sometimes in life you fall down but you feel you don’t have the the strength to get back up.”
6- “You put a mask on and pretend everything is alright.”
7- “Fear comes in, especially when you walk in your house and know it’s broken
and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
8- “The only time you feel you don’t have to impress everybody is when you’re
alone in bed.”
9- “You have doubts and are scared about the future but do you still have hope? Do
you know who you are? What’s important is you. Accept yourself even if others don’t. Know you are loved.”
10- “It’s normal to go through bouts of confusion and frustration and craziness in
your life . It happens all around you.”

Hope this is inspirational for you to see that others share your pain but also want the very best for you.

unconscious mind

Unlocking The Conscious And Unconscious Mind

“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.”
Brian Tracy

How do you take your brain off its default system and use it to create miracles, magic and some really amazing opportunities in your life? Your brain is a powerful force indeed and when you learn how to control it you will be amazed at what you can actually achieve.

According to Earl Nightingale, “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”

This is the key to a world where you can use the subconscious mind to better your life and become all that you were meant to be.. The subconscious is active all of time yet most of us don’t have any clue as to how to tap into the sheer power it possesses. .

We think a little positive thinking will go a long way but that is only have the battle. The idea is to reprogram the mind to change what needs to change and benefit from the reprogramming. The subconscious learns through constant repetition to make things a habit. That habit drives you wherever you go and whatever you do.

reprogram your mind for success

The Struggle Between The Conscious and The Subconscious Mind

“The greatest impediments to changes in our traditional roles seem to lie not in the visible world of conscious intent, but in the murky realm of the unconscious mind.”
Augustus Y. Napier

How do you create a life full of miracles, magic and amazing opportunities?

Inside your brain stem is something called the Reticular Activating System or RAS which is considered to be the gatekeeper that screens out data that the brain deems unimportant or not worthy enough to follow from your environment.

RAS is one of the most powerful forces known to man. According to Kris Hallbom and Tim Hallbom, “All of your future goals and dreams are not only a reflection of your subconscious thinking but they are also mediated by your Reticular Activating System (RAS). The RAS is the part of your brain that serves as a filter between your conscious mind and your subconscious mind. The RAS, which is located in the core of your brain stem, takes instructions from your conscious mind, and passes them on to your subconscious mind.”

Its main function is to process information that comes through. It can only process 147 bits of information at any one time therefore, it only lets in information that is relevant and important. Everything else is screened out. When you feel overloaded, your mind cannot process any information at all. It’s like a computer without enough memory. It slows down and cannot function properly.

Your brain focuses on the things it says are important and relevant to your survival and well-being but you can learn to control the RAS to better equip yourself in life. In Annie Grace’s well-written article entitled, “Liminal Thinking: The Key to Unlocking Your Unconscious Mind” she states, “Your unconscious mind is responsible for your desires. We don’t think about the distinction between our conscious and unconscious thoughts, but that distinction is vital to realizing why we continue to do things we vowed to stop. Studies confirm we have two separate thinking systems—the conscious and unconscious. The give-and-take between unconscious choices and our rational, conscious goals helps explain why we continue to do things we no longer desire to do.”

How does your brain decide what is important and relevant to you?

“The conscious mind determines the actions, the unconscious mind determines the reactions; and the reactions are just as important as the actions.”
E. Stanley Jones

It does this by assessing the external environment against what is contained in your long-term memory. This included your core beliefs, experiences, values and conditioning. This is what is considered your default system. If you choose to believe something is impossible despite it existing for real, you will not see it. It will become
impervious to your field of vision. This is why beliefs must change as part of the reprogramming effort. It must fall in line with what you want to change as long as it is part of the authentic you.

You have the power to override this default system with your thinking part of the brain which is known as the frontal lobe. It is a simple as choosing to put all your focus and attention on what you want because what you put your focus on what you find.

Quantum physics has proven this model to be true. It states that in any point in time, all possibilities exist and the moment we focus on one thing, the rest drop out of existence. But when we alter our focus, the possibilities change in our mind and we lose track of what we’re doing.

Here are two good examples of that model:

  • Finding a parking space for your car – Ever tried to find a parking space for your car and got really frustrated when you couldn’t. Everything changed when you put your focus on getting the parking space. You convinced yourself it was opening up and boom, a spot became available. When this becomes a habit, it gets easier every time to get a parking space. It is not a game of chance but RAS working in your favor. When you focus and believe, your brain kicks into gear and your RAS is activated to see opportunities for parking spaces.
  • Noticing things you never noticed before – Returning to the idea of cars, ever decided you wanted to buy a new car but didn’t know which one to buy? You happen to see one in the paper or on a commercial and all of the sudden you see them everywhere? Before they weren’t on your radar but
your brain now has been activated to see them. Even though they were always there only now has your RAS been activated to notice them.

How Does The Brain Activate RAS?

“The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of subconscious from which it rises.”
Sigmund Freud

The RAS works on both a conscious and unconscious level. At any given time we are bombarded by 2 million bits of information but the brain cannot process all this data at once. Instead, we observe things at an unconscious level happening all around us so that we can focus on what we feel is important. That is when RAS kicks into overdrive and starts doing its magic.

The brain has the capacity to see the smallest things once you put your mind’s focus upon them. You cannot do or find things if you don’t believe in yourself. This is the whole point of positive thinking. Activating RAS based on the belief that you can and you will! That is how great things happen and how feats that once were thought to be impossible become the norm.

To most people, this seems like pure magic or sleight-of-hand but it isn’t. It is what your brain was built to do. RAS was put there for our most basic of instincts, to find food, water and protect us for survival. As humans evolved, our brains grew and we learned coping mechanisms that helped us survive. What we learned to focus on helped us evolve into the beings we are today.

How Are You Using Your RAS?

reticulating activating system

Are you living on automatic pilot and letting your conditioned brain dictate what you see and don’t see? Or, are you taking matters into your own hands and focusing on the things you really want? Positive thinking will get you there if you allow your RAS to be activated to do its job.

Have you ever focused on other people’s faults and weaknesses?

The more you focus on their faults and weaknesses the more you see them. The same goes for your own faults and weaknesses. Start focusing on your strengths and good points and let RAS work for you instead of against you. No one is perfect but focusing too much on the negative side of things hurts your potential and keeps you from pursuing your greater self. This is the self God created you to be. It’s not about being weak but gaining strength. Strength to carry on, believing in one’s sel, and learning from our mistakes. That’s where positive thinking gives us the edge.

What you focus upon you will definitely find. When you focus on new ideas do you focus on whether other’s will like it or hate it. Whatever you focus on will happen. Positive thinking gets you past the gatekeeper and puts you on the pathway to success. Whatever you focus on will ultimately happen whether you like it or not. You must focus on the positive for positive things to happen.

What you focus on becomes your perception. You miss things you don’t focus upon. Life is filled with both good and bad so what you focus on you’ll receive as well as see and react to.

All possibilities exist in the universe. You decide where you choose to put your focus on and attention on as it will decide the difference between an expansive life of amazing miracles and great opportunities or a life filled with drama, excuses and limitations.

What will you choose?

This is amazing stuff isn’t it? The more you learn the secrets of positive thinking the more you will become the person of your dreams. Implement these strategies and see how much better your life becomes!

self talk

Why Self Talk Creates Your Version Of Reality

“Turn down the volume of your negative inner voice and create a nurturing inner voice to take it’s place. When you make a mistake, forgive yourself, learn from it, and move on instead of obsessing about it. Equally important, don’t allow anyone else to dwell on your mistakes or shortcomings or to expect perfection from you.”
Beverly Engel

Don’t let the title fool you. This is one of the most important lectures you will ever listen too. The concepts in this lecture changed my life as well as how I think. I don’t normally jump on the bandwagon with everyone else but Neville Goddard makes too much sense to be ignored. This is how the most successful people become successful and realize their vast potential.

Positive Self-Talk

How Our Inner Conversation Dictates Our Reality

“The way you choose to think and speak about yourself (to yourself and others), IS A CHOICE! You may have spent your whole life talking about yourself in a negative way, but that doesn’t mean you have to continue that path.”
Miya Yamanouchi

We all talk to ourselves at one time or another and it’s something we must do but the most important part of our inner talk is controlling the nature and direction of this inner conversation. If we let our inner conversation take over we are at its mercy.

Most of us are unaware that this inner conversation we have is the main cause of all the circumstances in our lives. We are told that “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” This means that thinking follows the tracks laid down in our own inner conversations. These tracks direct the actions in our lives and if we fail to control them we end up unhappy, unsuccessful and full of regret. This is where most people are at in their lives. Change comes when you conquer you self talk.

In order to turn those tracks in the direction you want to go, you must put off that nagging voice that wants you to fail and renew the spirit of your mind. This spirit is your speech which is the image of the mind. Therefore, in order to change your mind, you must first change your speech. This means, change those
conversations you carry on with yourself.

The world is a magic circle made up of infinite possibilities and mental transformations which means there are an infinite number of possible mental conversations you can have. Learn to dial in those that are positive and uplifting.

When you discover the creative power of inner talking, you will realize your function and mission in life. Then you can act with a purpose but without this knowledge you will act unconsciously. It is there where you lose control. Which pathway you takes depends on who you believe, who you listen to, and where it takes you. The power of choice is at your command.

Everything is a manifestation of the mental conversations which go on inside us without our being aware of them. It is your duty as a civilized being to be aware of them and act with a focused purpose. That purposed must be aligned with who you are as a person and what you believe in. The more you follow others the more your pathway becomes littered with bad decisions and unguided negative thoughts.

Your mental conversations attract what you get in life as long as there is no change in your inner talking. This is why your personal history remains the same. You’re stuck without a map to show you the way. To attempt to change the world before you change your inner conversations is the reason why you struggle so much as it goes against the very nature of things. You will just go round and round, having the same disappointments in life and being unhappy with your state of circumstances.

The Consequences Of Negative Inner Thinking

“No level of obstacle can prevail in crippling a mind that’s continuously fed with positive self-talk.”
Edmond Mbiaka

When you blame others for your disappointments you cannot see  it is your own negative inner thinking that is causing you pain. Change your inner thinking and see the thoughts for what they are doing to you. The more you allow negative thoughts and conversation to rule your mind the more unpleasant your life becomes.

Do you know what conversations are going on in your own mind? What mysterious track are you walking down? You must begin to take life consciously for the solutions to all your problems lie squarely in your own inner self talk.

You are to become master of your own words, master of your own inner thinking for we imitate the Heavenly Father by molding ourselves into the likeness of the kingdom of love. Master unconditional love and you master control of your own actions as they are guided by love not selfishness.

We have been told to be “Imitators of God as their children” but how can you imitate God? God has called things that are unseen as though they are seen and the unseen become seen. Your eyes deceive you but your faith won’t allow God to be your eyes and ears so that you can follow the path way to His love.

Your inner conversations represent the world you live in. Your individual world is a self-revelation of your own inner speech. You have been told that every idle word that men speak we will give an account of for by your words you will be justified as well as condemned. What world do you want to be a part of? The world at large or God’s kingdom? Whatever you choose, be prepared for its consequences for you are what you think.

We abandon ourselves to negative inner talking yet we expect to retain command of our own lives. Our present mental conversations do not recede into the past as you believe but advance into the future to confront us as wasted or invested words. What you say, feel or think has consequences on your future self. Are you
making it easier or harder to reach your potential by the quality of your inner self-talk?

God tells us that His words will not return unto Him void but it shall accomplish which He intends to happen. And it will prosper everywhere that he sends it. How are you sending your words out into the world? Are your words sending a loving communion of gratitude and care populated with loving thoughts and feelings that return to you prospering where you send them?

Most of us rob others of their willingness and ability to be kind and generous towards them. Our attitudes unfold within us in the form of our mental conversations. These conversations tell us what to do in any given situation and steer us in a direction they want to take us. Your control is either in your hands or your unconscious thought. Take control back and be the person you want to be. Let your inner conversation take you down the path of righteousness and love not selfishness and greed.

Now is the time for solutions. Now is the only time that counts. Don’t worry about the past or what might happen in the future. Even though its effects may not be visible until later on, you have the ability to make those inner thoughts and conversations create the events and relationships of life all based on your word.

How To Consciously Create Positive Circumstances

positive self talk

How do you consciously create your positive circumstances? By allowing your inner conversations to continually see what is happening all around you. What you see and hear consciously we must see and hear unconsciously. The whole manifested world shows us what use we have made of our words. Are those words acting on your behalf or against you as if in a court of law?

If you practice the art of controlled inner speaking, you will know what God has done for you. You will see what has come to pass. You will be able to consciously use your imagination to transform and channel the immense creative energies of your inner speech from a mental and emotional level to a physical one
as well which has no limits of its own. Without worldly limits, we can see what God has in store for us and act upon it with a loving heart.

What is your aim in life? Does your inner talking match it? What you desire to see and hear without, you must see and hear within. Whatever your goals in life are they must match what your inner speech is saying or conflict will occur. When they are in harmony you will see great things happen.

Every stage of your progress is made by the conscious exercise of your imagination which matches your inner speech and lends itself to your fulfilled desires. When you control your inner thinking and match it to your fulfilled desires, you can lay aside all other processes and act by clear imagination and intention. God will is then easy to follow and even easier to achieve.

The right inner speech for you is the speech that is only yours for you to realize your ideals. It is the speech of fulfilled desire. That desire comes from the gifts given to us by God. Those gifts are mind and speech. They are equivalent to being immortal as they will live on forever.

With the gift of mind and speech you create the conditions and circumstances of your life. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. The Word is the Son and the mind is the Father. They are not separate. Life is the union of word and mind.

You and your inner talking must be together like the father and Son are. If your mind is one with your inner conversation then what needs to be transformed in the mind needs to be transformed in the conversation and then manifested in life. There is no other way for this to happen.

Why Corruption Of The Mind Changes Our Inner Reality

Stay away from corruption of the mind and be renewed in the spirit of God. Change your inner conversations so that speech and mind become one with each other. Make sure they reflect what the Father and Son both say and believe. Conflict is the devil’s way of putting a wall between us and God.

A change of speech is a change of mind. In 2 Samuel 23:2 it reads, “The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.” If the Lord’s word were on Samuel’s tongue then they were in his mind also. The same goes for us for our conversations originate in the mind and produce little speech movements in the tongue.

Samuel is telling us that the mouth of God is the mind of men. That our inner conversations are the word of God. Creating life about us as we create it in ourselves. If we do not attempt to create what God has formed in us then we stagnate to the point of going backwards. Those words must have meaning and reflect what God has given us.

God is always near to us and has set before us in our mouths and in our hearts both goodness and evil, love and hate, blessings and curses and life and death. It is your job to choose what is good and pure in the Lord as well as life. The conditions and circumstances of life are not created by some external force but by the result of
the exercise of your freedom of choice. Know what is good and pure and allow them to be your guide. Push evil away and don’t give in to its calling. It is only a fox in sheep’s clothing.

Your freedom of choice is the idea for which you will respond to. This is the day off salvation. Whatever is good to the Lord think of these things and take them for yourself for your future is formed by the will of God which is your present inner talking.

You create your future by your inner conversations. The words were formed by the will of God. If you want to reap success you must plant success. The idea in your mind which starts the process going is the idea which you accept as truth. Truth depends on the intensity of imagination not upon facts. Change your assumptions to guide the truth. Assumptions, through faults, if persisted, will harden into facts.

The mind always behaves according to the assumption for which it starts. Therefore, to experience success, you must assume that you are successful. It must be consciously and deliberately taken. It doesn’t matter if at the present time, external facts deny the truth of your assumption, because if you persist in your assumption, it will become the truth.

No matter what you believe, your beliefs take you where you want to go. Mind and speech need to be one. If you are positive it is much easier to make this a reality. The more negative you become, the less chance you have to make a difference in the world. Continue to grow, continue to believe and continue to be the person God wants you to be.

In Part 3, we will see how to use your brain to create miracles, magic and amazing opportunities for a better and happier life!

Be Energized With The Power Of Positive Thinking Part 1

The incredible Power Of Positive Thinking

“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.”
Roy T. Bennett

What can the power of positive thinking do for you? Just imagine all your hopes, all your dreams, and all your visions becoming a reality!

Most people live their lives in quiet desperation with negativity as their soulmate. You can’t have what you want if you are always pushing it away. Instead, it’s all about bringing the goodness and the love that is all around and living with a positive mindset.

You can accomplish everything you want but you have to take positive action on those positive thoughts. Nothing comes that easy but when you practice being and living a positive lifestyle, a whole new world opens up and you can bring happiness back into your life.

Many of the celebrities started out from the bottom and worked their way up. Nothing came easy but they believed in themselves and used positive thinking to get where they wanted to go.  They made their dreams a reality because it was real in their minds.

In this article, I’m going to help you get to where you want by teaching you how to have a positive mindset and how to take positive action to make your hopes and dreams a reality for you. The idea here is to access the power of positive thinking and begin to manifest the kind of life you’ve always imagined having. It’s sitting right in front of you but you have to be strong enough to take it.

Positive Thinking

Mind Control – The True Power Of Positive Thinking

“There is a basic law that like attracts like. Negative thinking definitely attracts negative results. Conversely, if a person habitually thinks optimistically and hopefully, his positive thinking sets in motion creative forces, and success instead of eluding him flows toward him.”
 Norman Vincent Peale

For centuries, people have used the power of positive thinking to improve their lives, get what they want and make a big impact on the world. In this video, here are the reasons why controlling the thoughts you have can change your life for the better and harness the power of positive thinking.

According to Steve Maxwell, there are 17 ideas that govern mind control. He takes a stance on why fear and thought go hand in and how you can break them.

1- Fear in general is all a big lie. It’s something manufactured and you must look at fear from a different perspective. Fear has been given a power it was never meant to have. You must seize the power back and take a stance on where and how you deal with fear.

2- Fear has no control over you if you can control your thoughts. Control what comes in and how you perceive those thoughts. Control how you act on them as well as know where they are coming from. You biggest area of strength and power is awareness. The more aware of what your mind is doing, the easier it is to control those thoughts and actions.

3- Every thought that enters our minds doesn’t just come from us but outside stimulation. The collective outside is influencing what we think, what we feel and how we act. Understand this and give yourself the power to be yourself. You are an individual and the power that outside influences have need not apply if you live and exercise your right of free thought. Just because others think a certain way doesn’t mean they are right. You have freedom of choice make sure you use it.

4- The world is full of fear. Everyone is scared and paranoid at the next calamity or catastrophe about to happen. Terrorism, social media and mainstream media influence and touch those inner fears by scaring you with thoughts of loss… loss of your job, your freedoms, your rights and even your loved ones. The more you allow negative thoughts and negative vibrations to overtake your positive nature, the more fear will tighten its grip on you. The media loves to scare its citizens yet , if you understand why, then you don’t have to be fearful of anything anymore.

5- Stop thinking and listening to all these outside influences. They have no control over you unless you let them. Stop thinking of all the things you don’t want to happen and start concentrating on the good things, the positive things you want for yourself and your family. bad things happen when you set the table for them. Instead of fearing the future, embrace what you don’t know, see, hear or understand and let knowledge be both your guide and your teacher. This way, you will have nothing to fear.

6- Stop worrying as if worry will change your circumstances. Those negative thoughts will manifest themselves in our everyday lives with negative consequences. In Matthew 6:25-27, we see what worry will do for us. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

7- The idea is to concentrate on controlling what comes into your mind. If it is negative in origin, understand that it has no control over you and let it pass.

8- When you control your thoughts with positive energy, you can manifest anything you want. You need to learn how to harness that powerful bundle of energy. Why? Because the power of thought can take you anywhere you want to go. It is what success is built upon. It is how transformation happens. It is where you seperate the the doers from the talkers.

9- Positive thoughts have the capacity to bring good events and good circumstances as well as good people into our lives. You have the power to influence what happens to you by the power of your thoughts. Hope is based on positive thinking and positive reinforcement for each circumstance that happens. When you hope for the best, you are putting positive vibrations into the air. This why you can influence life and manifest anything you want if you live with positive energy.

10- For every negative thought, replace it with 2-3 positive thoughts. Overwhelm the negative thoughts until they can’t control you. The benefit comes in forming a good habit of always having positive thoughts. What is even better is using those positive thoughts and taking focused action that brings good things into your life. Overload and overwhelm the negative thoughts to such a degree that positivity rules the day.

11- It is the universal Law of Attraction. You attract the energy you put in. Einstein once said that energy cannot be created or destroyed. That is why you must control it so it works for you instead of against you. Attract good energy wherever you go. Get in the habit of attracting good things, good people and good situations into your life. Only then will success and happiness follow you through life.

12- Whatever you are thinking of or concentrating on is like putting in an order to the universe. With that thought you are asking for it to happen. The more negative it is, the worse the outcome and the more positive the thought is, the better the outcome. There is no such thing as a return with the universe. You get what you put into it so be wise and only put in positive energy. Remember, all that negative energy is like a huge weight that keeps getting heavier until it wears you down and you can’t function anymore.

13- As thoughts enter your mind, you have to weed out the bad and cultivate the good. Think of every thought and its consequences on your life. Once you understand this, you can consciously and subconsciously affect the outcomes of events in your daily occurrences. Be like the farmer that tends his field. prune the bad and allow the good to flourish. If you allow the weeds to grow they will suck the life out of you and you will not be able to have a good harvest.

14- Understand the awesome power of the spoken word and why is can have such an effect on others. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Your words determine the trust others have for you and how people ultimately treat you. Words are like daggers. They can hurt even the strongest among us. Allow your words to penetrate with love and care. Even if you do not like someone, do not talk badly about them because words are energy. They can and will travel right to that person. Let your words be the water that nourishes the world at large.

15- Always watch what you say because the next step beyond thought are words and you give energy to that thought when you speak them whether in public or private. Relegate those thoughts to the trash and give only your positive thoughts reason to grow. Try to only speak when you have something positive to add and learn to listen more. Knowledge comes from listening to others not teaching the learned.

16- Energy is the basis for all thought and action. Take that energy and put it to good use. Find ways to give back to others as well as the world where you are creating beauty and love instead of hate and cancer.

17- God is the source of all energy and his love is eternal. His unconditional love is pure energy. It is full of positivity and when you access this energy, God can work wonders in your life. No matter where you are not God can use you to make the world a better place to live and work in. in Isaiah 64:8 we are told, “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Allow God to mold you like clay so that you become a positive force for love and care.

Positive Thinking Is a Way of Life

“Affirmations are our mental vitamins, providing the supplementary positive thoughts we need to balance the barrage of negative events and thoughts we experience daily.”
Tia Walker

Each and every one of us has the choice to live either with a positive or negative mindset. How we live is  contagious if it positive. The more negative you are the more you push others away.

According to Remez Sasson,“People are more disposed to help us, if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity. Negative thoughts, words and attitude, create negative and unhappy feelings, moods and behavior. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment.”

Brian Tracy, the dean of modern positive thinking asks this one question: “Can you guess what the most successful and happy people think about all day long?

The answer is quite simple…

Healthy, happy people think about what they want, and how to get it, most of the time. In this way developing a positive attitude can truly change your entire life.”

What are you thinking about all day long?

Your problems, your bills, maybe even the negatives from past? This is a prescription for unhappiness.

Brian goes on to say, “When you think and talk about what you want and how to get it, you feel happier and in greater control of your life. When you think about something that makes you happy, your brain actually releases endorphins, which give you a generalized feeling of well-being. As a result, you develop a positive attitude.”

Living with a positive mindset is an attitude. One that takes training, motivation and time. Most people think they can just be positive and that covers it all but it goes way beyond just thinking positively. You must make it your life’s work. Just as a painter or sculptor makes it their life’s work always trying for perfection we must follow their example.

Be positive and make it count. Follow through and you will see big changes in your life. That terrible attitude that has been holding you back will fall to pieces when you allow positive thoughts to rule your mind. Good things will start to happen and it will be like a tidal wave that takes over your life.

Ride the wave and see it through. You won’t regret it.

In part 2 we will delve into the idea that  self-talk creates its own reality and how to change your reality with positive thinking.

Let’s take positive thinking to the next level.

Mind Hacking: How To Maximize Your Brain Power For Peak Performance

What Is Mind Hacking And How Does It Increase Your Brain Power?

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way round or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.”’
Bruce Lee

Imagine this: You work incredibly hard for months and months to get a promotion and suddenly, you’re passed over for someone else who doesn’t have nearly the qualifications you have. What do you do?

If you’re like most people , you get mad and pretty bummed out then just accept the inevitable without even questioning what you must do to increase your personal growth. You end up being part of the collective like the Borg in Star Trek Voyager while kissing the asses of those above you.

But what does all of this do for you? What do you get out of your past hard work?

This is where mind hacking comes into play. Yes, it seems this word is steeped in ancient mysticism and is well off the beaten path but what would you give to increase your brain power and finally reach your full potential God has offered you since birth?

Most of us underestimate the real truths in life. We believe most of what we hear and then allow it to be drilled into us everyday like clockwork until we’re more like robots than individuals. In fact, in the new millennium, society has almost made it a crime to become a true individual if it doesn’t help the collective to better itself.

Throughout the ages, great people have bucked the system to become world famous for their inventions, their business acumen, as well as their intellect. Incredible individuals such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Michelangelo were the epitome of learned individuals but they went one step further than most of us do. They decided to focus on improving their brain power which, in turn, would lead to breakthroughs in all areas of their lives.

Every day, the world is changing through the power of technology and it is leaving many confused and alienated. Technology helps us overcome many of life’s biggest obstacles but it comes at a price: a price few are willing to pay. That price is running roughshod over faith and it causing the world to lose hope and it’s ability to think for  itself.

This is where mind hacking comes into play. This is how improving your brain capacity can set you on a course for greater success and happiness in a world that has made technology our new God and master.

The Truth About Brain Training

3 Myths To Improving Your Brain Power Capacity

“Life is a series of problem-solving opportunities.  The problems you face will either defeat you or develop you depending on how you respond to them.”
Rick Warren

Improving our brain power capacity is not about hooking our brains up to a computer and downloading knowledge. Knowledge is only as good as the person who uses it. The brain has the capacity to learn so much more than we give it credit for but it cannot happen unless we are both open to it and can put it to good use.

What good is knowledge if we use it for hate and allow it to control others? Those great learned men and women of the past knew this and used their great intellect to push mankind further into the future. Today, knowledge is not king but what we do with it can have an incredibly positive effect on the lives of millions and millions of people who drastically need it.

So, how do you go about improving your brain capacity and putting all that knowledge to work?

First off, let’s get the 3 great myths out of the way so we can focus on improving your capacity to learn and retain that knowledge.

  1. We Only Use 10% Of Our Brain Power – This is a myth that has harmed our ability to function. According to neurologist Barry Gordon at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, “This myth stems from people’s conceptions about their own brains: they see their own shortcomings as evidence of the existence of untapped gray matter.”  He goes on to say, “Ultimately, it’s not that we use 10 percent of our brains, merely that we only understand about 10 percent of how it functions.”
  2. Your Personality Determines Whether You Are Right or Left-Brain Dominant – The two sides of your brain must work together to process your thoughts. They compliment one another to help us to speak, to learn, to do physical movements as well as control our both our emotional and creative endeavors. Even though we have specialized brain regions, they must all work together for the brain to function.
  3. Being a Male Or Female Is What Dictates Learning Abilities – According to Devin M. Demaske, in his thesis entitled, “The Differences Between How Boys and Girls Learn and the Benefits of Single Gender Schools”, he tells us that both biological, emotional and social factors decide who learns what and how much. He goes on to say, “The three forces at work in shaping the brain are nature, nurture, and culture. Boys possess energy where they prefer to move around. They tend to be more impulsive and also learn by trial and error. They make connections through the movement. Girls, on the average, have a 25% larger corpus callosum, which allows them a greater ability to multitask. Girls are also more auditory, while boys are more tactile. The female brain also does not rest like the male brain does. From birth, girls use more eye contact and boys use more physical aggression. These differences are innate, and as a society we have changed the system to help girls, but in reality the boys might need some help.”

These myths show how much we limit learning as the most important weapon in our arsenal as humans.

How To Increase Your Brain Power Capacity

“Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted.”
David Bly

mind games

We all know that the brain is a muscle and needs to be exercised regularly but how many of us do it the right way to get the most out of our workout?

No matter what the age, we can all learn something new each day. The new buzz word today is neuroplasticity which is the brain’s innate ability to change and reorganize itself and its functions by creating new neural connections.  This means the brain subtly changes shape to create a new chain of neurons.

What does this mean for you?

It means you can take full advantage of hacking your mind and improving your brain power. According to Keith Hillman, in his article dated April 20 2016, entitled, “How Does Neuroplasticity Work?”, he explains how neuroplasticity works: “Over time, if we don’t use those particular neural pathways then they will atrophy to the point where they are no longer going to fire accidentally. On the other hand, if we repeatedly practice a new task it will more and more begin to become ‘second nature’. Eventually this can lead to whole areas of the brain being physically larger and heavier than others.”

In essence, you want a heavier brain. Why? Just as in lifting weights in a controlled atmosphere, you will build larger and heavier muscle and so it is with the brain. The idea of mastering one thing at the expense of others takes a big turn for the better. You can now learn and master many things over a specific time period because you are exercising the brain and helping it to build new neural connections which can stimulate the brain’s capacity for more power. This is an exciting way to build new skills that we thought we couldn’t accomplish before.

Let’s go over 5 ways you can use neuroplasticity to improve brain function and increase brain power.

  1. Experience New Things – How boring would life be if we didn’t experiment and try and learn new things? If you spent your whole life within a ten mile radius of your home, you’d never know what life and people were like outside of your safe environment. If you haven’t flown on an airplane, go on a vacation and experience what it’s like to fly. If you haven’t learned to cook, have fun experiencing cooking by taking classes that bring new people and new adventures into your life.
  2. Be Curious – Curiosity doesn’t kill the cat, it helps the cat understand and learn new things. This is what you want. Instead of doing the same old things the same old way, try different approaches and seek out new ways to live. Sometimes they are better and sometimes not but tit’s the idea of being curious that helps us to learn new ways of doing things. Here’s a great example, my grandfather worked on cars for over 70 years of his life and knew everything there was to know about the older cars before electronics took over but that didn’t stop him. He constantly learned new things and new ways to do things so that when a problem came up, he knew he could overcome it.
  3. Build Strong Human Connections – The old saying, “No man is an island” is so true in this case. The more connections or bonds you build with other th people the stronger your neural connections will be. Remember, you can learn so much from others in how they do things, how they speak, their life’s adventures, the people they can connect with you. Happiness goes hand in hand with improved brain power. According to Christopher Bergland, from his January 21, 2014 article entitled, “What Is the Best Way to Improve Your Brain Power for Life?” he states, “People working, volunteering and maintaining close-knit human bonds are 24 percent more likely to maintain cognitive function in late life.”
  4. Start Meditating – Meditation has been proven to aid in cognitive brain function by reducing stress levels, preventing age-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, as well as helping you focus your attention on matters at hand. Meditation also boosts your Alpha brainwaves, which is the perfect state for learning but more importantly, it stimulates learning in both the Hippocampus and frontal lobe, which are used for memory storage and recall. The better you can be in the zone while meditating, the better you will build brain power.
  5. Develop your intuition – Our brains have this ability to pick up on life’s patterns and respond to them in the form of insights that can sense what is really going on in our lives. According to the researchers at the Centre for Organisational Strategy, Learning and Change at Leeds University Business School, “Intuition is the result of the way our brains store, process and retrieve information on a subconscious level and so is a real psychological phenomenon which needs further study to help us harness its potential.” This is important to understand as this retrieval of information comes from the subconscious level which picks up on things we don’t normally sense. This is why you need to increase your brain power to better serve your intuition.
How To Stop Mind Games From Destroying Your Brain’s Peak Performance

“Success is not measured by what a man accomplished, but by the opposition he has encountered and the courage with which he has maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.”
Charles Lindberg

We all face the daily dilemma of the mind games that continually play in our heads. Those pesky little voices that tells us what we should or shouldn’t be doing or that we’re not good enough but you can overcome them. How? By starting a campaign to empower your mind to stop allowing your fears to build walls around you and get your habits in line with your values.

Peace of mind can only come when you give yourself the chance to stop controlling and manipulating all the data that comes into your head. Everyone plays those mind games with each other and we’re never better off for doing it.

We give excuses as to why we fail, why we can’t go on and face the challenges in life as well as reaching our goals. These excuses are like a security blanket that never help us obtain our chance at peak performance.

How many times have you dreamed of doing something crazy or had a goal in life but you never actually pushed yourself to do it? It stays in your head for years reminding you of what you could be… what your life might look like and you suffer from guilt and regret.

Here’s 4 Ways to stop the mind games completely and allow yourself to increase your brain power and the power you have to improve your life.

  1. Stop Sabotaging Yourself – We all do it to some degree but the more you allow yourself to listen to the lies you tell yourself,he more obstacles you will have to face and you will never see the light of day. Power comes from action not lack of will. Your fears will come crumbling down when you take the knowledge you’ve acquired and put in into swift and meaningful action.
  2. Stop Blaming Yourself For Everything That Happens To You – Blame is a funny word. You either take the blame or put it on others. There never seems to be a middle ground but that’s the fool talking. The consequences of our actions can lead to taking blame but there’s more to it than that. Everyone involved has a hand in what happens to you. If things go wrong, it’s all part of free will. You can’t control every person or situation. That is why you need to learn how to improve your thoughts and seek out the truth in all situations. Sometimes the truth hurts but most of the time, the truth lies in the middle of the mess that’s lying in your lap.
  3. Stop Putting Yourself Down – The more you bring negativity into your life the less you will be able to improve the quality of what you learn. Too often, we’re right in the middle of making a huge breakthrough in life and we let our insecurities determine what happens next. It always stops us from taking the next step in life and that’s the problem. Without the next logical step, we remain the same. No growth… no improvement… and no happiness. We end up stuck in a rut where we continue to put ourselves down and blame ourselves for ever blunder, ever bad thing that has ever happened. Unfortunately, we forget all the good things we have done, for both ourselves and others, and wallow in self pity. The day you put your big-boy pants on and take concerted action and give yourself a break is the day when you start breeding success in life.
  4. Playing Games Mean No Commitment To Anything – You must commit to something in life so you must stop playing mind games with yourself and grow up. Hiding behind
How To Reprogram The Brain’s Capacity For Mindfulness

“Success often comes to those who dare to act.  It seldom goes to the timid who are ever afraid of the consequences.”
Jawaharlal Nehru

You’ve come this far and now it’s time to reprogram the brain for mindfulness. Without mindfulness, everything else won’t work. You need to understand how and why mindfulness makes everything possible.

What is mindfulness? Mindfulness is the act of being in the moment and knowing what you are doing, what you are thinking, and how you are acting. It is being present in what you do and seeing it to it’s logical conclusion.

How does this affect your capacity to learn?

  1. Changing Your Thought Patterns – You are what you think so the more positive your thoughts are, the more powerful they become. Thoughts are energy and they have incredible power. This is why hacking the brain is so important. Start monitoring your thoughts while being present in the moment. Define what you think about and then create a space between your thoughts and actions so that you have room to edit and grow.
  2. Choose How You React To Life – The better your response to stimulation around you, the more power you have in controlling what you do. Mindfulness is all about power and strength of both actions and character.
  3. Change Your Habits – Those habits that do you no good must be changed or adapted. learning to break your bad habits give you strength and confidence to become the person you were meant to be. Hacking the brain entails many more things than just knowledge. It means changing and growing from an emotional and spiritual point of view through personal growth and development.
  4. Challenge Yourself – Nothing happens unless we challenge ourselves and take action. Increasing our brain power takes commitment on your part, strength to follow it through and realizing you have the power to be anything you want.
  5. Believe In Yourself – It’s time to take a cue from the great men and women of the past and believe in yourself. Believe in the power that’s within you. Yes, you may fail at times but failure is not bad. It’s a way to learn and grow. You have the capacity for greatness but you must believe it first or you will always fall short.

Take it from me, until I learned how to quiet the mind and live through mindfulness, I was your typical loser. I never got to the place I envisioned myself attaining until I learned how to hack my own mind and realize the full potential of my intellect.

I’m not the smartest person in the world but I believe in myself and my gifts. That, along with maximizing my brain power, has carried me further than I ever believed I could accomplish and allowed me to taste fruits of my labor. It feels so good to know I am a best-selling author. I’m not telling you this to brag but letting you know what is possible. And shouldn’t the possibilities of life be your impetus to increase your brain function and live the life you want?

I know it has been for me!

Are Limiting Beliefs Stopping You From Enjoying Real Success?

limiting beliefs

What Are Limiting Beliefs Made Of?

“If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you.”

Louise Hay

Limiting beliefs are those things such as thoughts, attitudes, judgments and actions that stop us from achieving our hopes and dreams. These beliefs constrain us by putting an impenetrable wall between what is and what can ultimately be.

Are you defined by what you do? Or do not do? By it’s very definition, limiting beliefs inhibit us from ever finishing what we start. That is the biggest obstacle we must overcome if we are ever going to reach our maximum potential.

What is so different about the people who have achieved their dreams and where do you stand today with your own dreams?

It’s all about your limiting beliefs. When you choose to limit yourself, you choose the easy way out of life. The easy way is filled with excuses, negativity and defeatist attitudes. When we limit what we can do and achieve, it sets us up for failure.

Nothing can happen unless we choose to make it happen. We get so caught up in the self-judgment that we forget to look around and see the potential inside of us. Vironika Tugaleva tells us, Courage is your natural setting. You do not need to become courageous, but rather peel back the layers of self-protective, limiting beliefs that keep you small.”

Are you living small? You don’t need courage to live small but to break out of your perceptions of the world, you need to take chances. Take chances on yourself and what you are fully capable of doing. The world is in need of your love, your dreams and your visions.

When I was young, my parents moved us to a different town every year for about the first seven years of my life. I found it very hard to make friends and so my self-confidence was very low and it fed my limiting beliefs. Every negative belief was self-fulfilling. It didn’t matter if it was a big or small belief. My deepest fears controlled my every move. I limited what I could do with false beliefs that never came true

This is the main reason why so many people never fully realize the dreams they had as a child. The limit their functionality by believing things which aren’t true. These beliefs have an incredible impact on your future self.

How Do Limiting Beliefs Impact Your Life?

“You begin to fly when you let go of self-limiting beliefs and allow your mind and aspirations to rise to greater heights.”

Brian Tracy

overcoming limited beliefs

Most people ground themselves and never allow the mind to rise above mediocrity. They say “I can’t” or “It’s not possible” without really trying. Fear of failure, fear of what others may say as well as the fear of possibilities limits your chances at success.

How often have you had that little voice in your head tell you no when you wanted to do something and then you backed off in fear of what may happen? It is quite common to listen to your fears but only when you face those fears and destroy the limiting beliefs can you soar with greatness.

We see others living the type of life we can only dream about yet what are you doing to make your own way in this world?

Are you always sitting on the sidelines watching others play the game of life?

Are you jealous of those who take chances and succeed?

Are you worried what will happen if you do the same? What others may say about you?

In the Tom Cruise movie, “Risky Business”, his character Joel Goodsen, learns a very valuable lesson about life. His father badly wants him to get into Princeton but Joel has no idea how to do it. He’s scared to take chances as evidenced by his recurring nightmare – He’s taking his college boards but there’s only two minutes before the test is over and he hasn’t started even it yet. Through a series of adventures such as crashing his father’s Porsche, falling for a prostitute and having his family’s possessions stolen by Guido, the prostitute’s pimp, he realizes the consequences of his actions.

But things suddenly change when his best friend, Miles, tells him, “Sometimes you gotta say “What the F**k”, make your move. Joel, every now and then, saying “What the F**k”, brings freedom. Freedom brings opportunity, opportunity makes your future.”, he finally understands what life is all about.

It’s those two sentences that are the basis for all success.

Do your limiting beliefs impact your decision making process?

Of course they do. We agonize for every decision in life wondering if it will propel us forward or saddle us in debt and remorse but you can overcome those limiting beliefs by saying what the hell once in awhile. This mantra can help you gain a much needed awareness of what life has to offer.

Problems can’t be fixed if you don’t know you have a problem. Awareness of those beliefs that limit your progress helps you chart a course for opportunity. Singer Rita Coolidge puts it bluntly when she said, “Too often, the opportunity knocks, but by the time you push back the chain, push back the bolt, unhook the two locks and shut off the burglar alarm, it’s too late.”

What causes this inaction? Your limiting beliefs do. Those thoughts and fears that you have conditioned yourself with throughout your life. The challenge with having limiting beliefs is most people refuse to believe they have them and won’t do anything to overcome them. They are stuck between living a lie and facing the reality of life.

How To Exorcise Your Limiting Beliefs

“Do the uncomfortable. Become comfortable with these acts. Prove to yourself that your limiting beliefs die a quick death if you will simply do what you feel uncomfortable doing.”

Darren Rowse

How uncomfortable are you with life?

Are you comfortable with the uncomfortable or do you shy away from anything that will force you out of your comfort zone?

Limiting beliefs are the cornerstone of the unsuccessful. They tend to hide behind excuses while justifying their actions.

So how do we exorcise those limiting beliefs and start firing up a new set of positive beliefs that can take us to a whole new level of success in our lives?

  1. Learn From Your Experiences – Everyday we have the chance to learn from what life is teaching us. The problem comes when we close our eyes and mind to the lessons we need to learn. The more you learn, the better you will be able to re-educate yourself re=adjust your beliefs so they are in perfect alignment with the real you.
  2. Get Rid Of Faulty Logic – Are the decisions you make based on logical assessments of what is really happening or do they come from judgments that lack truth and coherence? What may seem logical based on past experiences may not have all the evidence needed to make sound decisions. Test your logic and see if it passes the B.S. meter. Most of the time it doesn’t so you’ll need to re-examine how and why you make the decisions you do.
  3. Face Your Fears Head On – This may be the hardest action to swallow but fear has the uncanny ability to limit us and keep us caged into a corner. Everyone faces their fears at some point in life so you can’t keep running away from them. It is how you gain strength and courage to better yourself. Fear is not the enemy, how you react to it is. Everytime you face your fears and overcome them, the easier it is to take calculated risks that will pay off in the future.
  4. Replace Your Beliefs With Positive Ones – Beliefs are not set in stone. They can and should be changed if they cause problems for you. This means you must do a lot of soul-searching and be honest with yourself. If the belief is not working, find a belief that will. This doesn’t mean that you take on any old belief system because it works for others. You must personalize it with powerful and positive actions that remain true to your personality.
  5. Stop Trying To Control Life – The more you try to control the things around you, the more you will lose control of who you really are. You can’t control everything and everyone so back off and stop trying to control factors that are outside your control. How you react to life plays a big part in how successful and how strong a person you become. Giving up control is not weakness but strength in faith. You don’t know what life will offer you from minute to minute so let it come to you and enjoy the moment. The fears, the stress, and the unknown have no control over you. They are part of life and when you limit the soul, it cannot fully taste the communion with God.
How Do You Transform Your Limiting Beliefs?

“All too often we’re filled with negative and limiting beliefs. We’re filled with doubt. We’re filled with guilt or with a sense of unworthiness. We have a lot of assumptions about the way the world is that are actually wrong.”

Jack Canfield

step outside your comfort zone

Limiting beliefs are all about perception. What you may perceive to be an obstacle is only there to help you grow. In his article, “THE COMPLETE GUIDE ON HOW TO OVERCOME YOUR LIMITING BELIEFS”, author Adam Sicinski states, “It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.”

When you start shifting your perception from the events to the actual meaning, then you can shift your limiting beliefs to positive ones that push you in the right direction towards a successful life.  Adam goes on to say “Beliefs are not facts.”

This is important to remember as our limiting beliefs in our mind are held up as facts when in reality, they “Are nothing more than conclusions you have drawn based on your childhood experiences” according to Adam.

To change those limiting beliefs, you must look for the key signals that offer clues to what is limiting your mindset.

  1. What Do You Complain About The Most?
  2. How Often Do You Make Excuses?
  3. What Negative Things Do You Think About?
  4. How Often Do You Procrastinate?
  5. What Makes You Worry?
  6. Do You Make Assumptions Or Conclusions About Yourself And Your Abilities?
  7. Have You Set Your Standards Too Low? Too High?

Limiting beliefs serve a purpose for each and every one of us. Whether it is to hide from pain or protect us from our fears. Each belief we have must be examined, defined and tested to see if holding onto it helps you become the person you envision yourself to be.

Why Transformation Efforts Fail

From Visually.

To transform your beliefs, you must be open to the possibilities of life and be ready to embrace them as they come. It’s no use being fearful as limiting your perceptions serves no purpose.

Here are 3 ways to transform your limiting beliefs

  1. What Outcome Do You Want For Your Life? – You’ll never get anywhere until you decide what outcome you want for you life. What are your goals and what’s preventing you from achieving them? What do you want to change and how will you go about changing them? The end result is what you will be working for.
  2. Put Your Limiting Beliefs Through The Ringer –  Change doesn’t come unless you decide to change and the only way to change is to put your beliefs through the ultimate test. That is, question the validity of every belief. Take it through the ringer until you expand your perspective of the infinite you. Seems rather a bit much but what else can you do? The more you push your beliefs to the limit the more you can shake out the things that don’t belong. Each question that comes to mind is done to learn more about who the real you is. All this is done to find clarity. Without it, those limiting beliefs will never go away.
  3. Constantly Work On Your Beliefs – Once you’ve transformed your beliefs into the real you, it doesn’t mean you’re done. It only means you must continually grow. Overcoming your limiting beliefs is a constant struggle but that is the beauty of life. Continuous growth makes you stronger and better equipped to deal with the complexities of life. You must condition your new beliefs until they become part of you. Be flexible with your beliefs as they may need to be tweaked from time to time but according to Adam Sicinski, “Your beliefs must change with the times, they must also change with your goals.”

When you let go of your limiting beliefs and adopt empowering ones, you seek out your deepest fears and conquer them. The day you give in and let those beliefs rule you is the day you limit your chances for success.

Let me leave you with this quote from Marianne Williamson, which talks about living small. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

What Do Happy People Know That You Don’t?

happiness is love

The Amazing Secrets Of Happy People

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22-23

What is the secret of being happy? That is the question humans have been asking for thousands of years but at the heart of being happy is none other than love. Without love, happiness cannot flourish. It cannot breed it’s beauty and fulfill its prime directive… that is, bring us closer to God for happiness has been given to us from the Lord.

Happy people go about doing things much differently than unhappy people. They live in a away that is kinder and more gentle than unhappy people. Happiness is a way of life. It’s a way to be not a way to act or even a way to receive.

Want to see what happiness looks like? Take a peek at this infographic outlining a happiness checklist:

Happiness Checklist

We here all the time about being happy but how many people do you actually meet on your daily journey who are truly happy? Society has taken a huge toll on the individual spirit and has put us at a disadvantage. Our ancestors knew how to be happy. They treasured happiness as if it were gold. They worked hard to toil the land but at the end of the day, they had a joy that most of us would be jealous of.

What part of your life is lacking happiness?

What are you doing to change the equation and bring more happiness, more joy and more peace to your everyday life?

At the heart of being happy is reveling in the Lord. When you know Jesus, you can live knowing you have an advocate on your side. This can take away much of the stress we suffer from in today’s hectic world. But Christian joy and happiness are not one in the same. Happiness is not some warm and fuzzy feeling that only lasts a certain amount of time

The Root Of All Happiness

“We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy.”
Joseph Campbell

Christian happiness goes far beyond that of society’e version of happiness. Joy, not just happiness is expressed in the bible as:

James 1:2-3 “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

James 1:2-3

It is here that the real secret of true happiness comes. Happy people cling to joy because they know they have control over it as opposed to happiness where we think it comes to us. This difference makes it possible to feel joy even when things don’t go as planned or there are troubles in life.

The majority of people are like the wind. When tough times come, happiness flies out the door. When Christians feel joy, it reverberates throughout their lives no matter the circumstances. They know God is in control of their lives and they can feel it all the way through their soul.

When you read the new testament you find that we are commanded to be joyful. What is the source of this joy? It is the Lord, of course. Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4,  Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

We are in Christ and He is in us so no matter what happens, we have God inside our hearts. He leads us through the hills and valleys of life. He is the ultimate source of strength especially when we can’t go on. It is a union that we heartily embrace. oy comes from faith in the Lord.

How To Be A Very Happy Person

happiness is a gift

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

James 1:2-3

Happiness is a gift from God. It is something not to be taken lightly. Joy comes to when we are keenly aware of God’s grace and are relishing His favor in us. Too often, we spend our time focusing on the negative parts of life without being grateful for what we have and the life we are living. If you turn your thinking around and see the positive side of life then happiness and joy will follow you all the days of your life.

For many, these words have no meaning because they are too caught up in themselves. Happiness is not just a selfish thing but something to be shared. We are a community that prays and obeys God in all things. This means it’s a choice to be happy even though we are commanded to be. God gave us the choice because He doesn’t want to force us. He wants happiness and joy to flow through our veins and become an integral part of who we are as Christians.

In their book,  “The 9 Choices of Happy People” authors Rick Foster and Greg Hicks write that “Intention is the active desire and commitment to be happy. It’s the decision to consciously choose attitudes and behaviors that lead to happiness over unhappiness.”

We also find this in the book, You Can Choose to Be Happy” by Tom G. Stevens, PhD. when he states emphatically, “Choose to make happiness a top goal,” Choose to take advantage of opportunities to learn how to be happy. For example, reprogram your beliefs and values. Learn good self-management skills, good interpersonal skills, and good career-related skills. Choose to be in environments and around people that increase your probability of happiness. The persons who become the happiest and grow the most are those who also make truth and their own personal growth primary values.”

“The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.” ~William Penn

Gratitude and forgiveness should also be a big part of being a happy person. You can’t live without being grateful for what you have. Selfish people are not happy people. They live for themselves not for God. That’s the big difference here. The more you are thankful for what you have the happier you are.

Why be grateful?

It’s all a matter of how you think. Rather than focusing on the things you don’t have, try focusing on what you do have and be grateful for them. Remember, there are people who would kill for what you have. God wants us to be happy with what we have and be able to give from our hearts because what we do have all comes from Him anyway. The happiness that comes with gratitude can be life-changing when you learn to put it in action.

Forgiveness is something most of us have trouble with. No matter how hard it is forgiving others, it is as much for our own psyche as it is for the other person. The secret is, don’t dwell on your anger or hurt, but instead put that  vengeance to bed. Open up your heart with love and forgiveness and allow the peace of the Lord to dwell in your soul and eel the peace and joy that He offers you.

Happiness can be short-circuited by our thoughts. The more we remain in a negative vibration, the more unhappiness grabs hold of us. The idea is to let positive thoughts and emotions fill your mind so that you are uplifted which allows you to have control over your thoughts and feelings.

Jon Haidt, the author of “The Happiness Hypothesis” states that “If you learn techniques for identifying negative thoughts, then it’s easier to challenge them.” You have full control over whether you feel happy or not. Wrestling that control from negativity can be tough but it must be done to enjoy being happy.

Making Happiness An Everyday Habit

experiencing real happiness

“Happiness is a habit—cultivate it.”
Elbert Hubbard

You would think that being happy would come naturally to humans but the problems we all face daily can put a damper on experiencing lasting happiness.  The thing is, it doesn’t have to be that way.  You can learn to pick up habit that will help bring out the happiness that you honestly deserve.

Here are 5 Ways You Can Make Happiness A Daily Habit

  1. Change Your Perspective On Life – See life from a different angle. The more you experience different things, the less boredom can take a hold of you and your thoughts.

  2. Learn To Embrace Your Fears – Challenge yourself from time to time. If you let your fears get the better of you, stress and anxiety will rule your day. A good challenge gets the blood flowing and forces you to better yourself.

  3. Learn To Smile More – There’s nothing better than a good smile. Happy people smile more and love to laugh. Are you a smiler or a frowner? The more you smile the more positive your outlook, Smiling also brings you closer to others and the better your relationships the happier you will be.

  4. Put More Emphasis On Helping Others – Psychologists have studied people who spend time helping others and have found they are happier because of their service and bring more happiness to the people they are helping. Are you serving others? Are you a giver or a taker?
  5. Commit More Random Acts Of Kindness – Most people don’t think about what their actions can do for others. They are so caught up in their own life they forget they have the power to make an impact on the lives of others. The more acts of kindness we can offer the world the better we can enjoy the love that’s all around us. Take time to be good to others and it will leave a happy feeling in your heart and a smile on the faces of others.

No matter how you slice it, happy people make an indelible mark on the world. Go out and make the supreme effort to be happy. Even when it’s raining inside your heart let the world see the sunshine in tour eyes. You’ll be much better off for it.

How To Trust Your Intuition When Making Tough Decisions

trust your intuition

Tapping Into Your Intuition

“Intuition is seeing with the soul.”
Dean Koontz

Ever felt the pangs of something deep inside telling you what you must do when you have to make a tough decision? A gut instinct that you can’t quite understand but follow anyway? This is called intuition. The way to tap into your intuition is to listen to the authentic self that goes far beyond normal rationalization and directly follow where it takes you.

Do you ever listen to that little voice inside your head that keeps popping up or do you push it away and look for answers somewhere else then realize you should have gone with that first thought? Every day, we make thousands of decisions that affect what we eat, where we go and how we think yet we never think about trusting our own decisions to our innate intuition.

Intuition taps into your subconscious mind and validates your thoughts. You may not remember what you saw, heard or felt from the past but it all registers in the deep recesses of your mind. When decisions are to be made, our mind goes back into those recesses to bring up these long lost observations to see if they are valid or not. When they are, they are automatically chosen and fed into the decision making process.

Sometimes, it’s a feeling that we go on with but despite our rationality, most times intuition is right on target. Many of the great thinkers of the world, from Isaac Newton to Albert Einstein have said it’s our most valuable asset. It’s really all about immediately understanding something without conscious reasoning.

That’s key here because if we think like a computer, we take out the human element that makes us unique. It comes from real life experiences that give us recognizable truths that are ready to be revealed. There’s nothing like real world experience that can open up areas of thought you never knew existed.

How To Trust Your Instincts In All Matters

rules of the game

How often do you make bad decisions? Have you thought long and hard about it or did you make a snap decision? Science has found that most of the time our snap judgments come from gut instinct and usually steer us in the right direction.

Our hearts may tell us one thing but the gut feelings usually have the edge.

Why is this?

It’s all based on our basic instincts. Things we know to be true but cannot prove.

When you were a kid, you did everything on instinct. If you thought too much about what you were doing, you either stopped doing it, made mistakes while you were doing it or got bored real quick. When you trust your instincts, it usually means you’re on the right track.

Learning The Habits Of Those Who Trust Their Intuition

From Visually.

How many times have you made a tough decision and then slapped yourself when it came out wrong because you didn’t go with your gut instincts? It happens all the time. Your brain has it own way of reasoning and when you leave it to do its job, it usually does a very good job but too much analysis and too many edits triggers the stress levels. When you don’t trust your intuition bad things can happen.

This is when you make bad decisions based on bad data because you can’t think straight. Don’t let the brain’s protective and control side to take over unless it’s a problem that needs time, space and energy to commit to. Logic is one thing but all logic comes from experience and that is what helps you make the tough decisions when you need to make one.

Athletes run on instinct because it takes too long to analyze things in the moment. Take a clue from them and learn to go with your gut instinct… go with what it’s telling you to do.

How do you trust your instincts?

When change and uncertainty come into our life, we go into panic mode but the unconscious is always working, always looking for opportunities that we don’t see consciously. Most decisions we make are not life-threatening so our instincts don’t really need to kick in but intuition or “the sixth sense” needs to be exercised in such a way as to keep you alert.

Decisions come and go but if we hesitate for just a second then we question our intuition, we lose out on perfectly good chance to make a good decision that takes us down the pathway to happiness. It’s those times when we lose awareness of things around us that we second guess our instincts.

Ever had that funny feeling something doesn’t feel right but you laugh it off and then find out you were right all along?

Most people could learn a lesson from their intuition. We could save a lot of heartache in life if we let our subconscious mind make those type of decisions for us without being second-guessed. Too often, people make bad decisions where they get ripped off, injured or are taken advantage because they overthink things to the point where they have no idea how to make any type of decision at all.

How often has mistrust of your basic instincts cost you in the past? Either professionally, personally, financially or even physically?

Intuition is like a compass that we use to guide us in life. If you live in fear then your intuition is blocked. Every time we anticipate things that go wrong or try to guard against any perceived danger we push our instincts aside and let fear take over.

What has fear done to your intuition?

Following Your Intuition

“When you reach the end of what you should know, you will be at the beginning of what you should sense.”
Kahlil Gibrán

Our intuition is based upon our core beliefs. Those values by which we live and breathe by. They are formed by our environment and families as we grow but circumstances throw a wrench into our daily plans. When it comes time to make the tough decisions you must allow your intuition to have a say. Get in touch with your emotions and embrace your inner self. That inner self will help you as intuition comes from the right hemisphere of the brain which controls the non-verbal and expressive part.

What happens when you hang onto things you don’t need? You put a cover over understanding, clarity and compassion. You see things not as they are but as you want to see them. This stifles creativity which is where intuition lives.

Are you distracted? Do you seek things that don’t help you? It’s time to stop running away from life and get involved. The cognitive side is the rational part of the brain. What you need to do is pay attention to your dreams. They are fueling your intuition but you are ignoring that part of your brain function.

Combining our dreams with our emotional side is a secret most people are not privy to. They think it’s easier to use one or the other but you’re only getting half the picture.

Ever play hunches? Maybe you feel like something is about to happen. Many times these hunches come in dreams or a dreamstate but if you push off the emotional side and go logically you’re missing a big piece of the puzzle.

Follow your intuition to it’s logical conclusion and you will see positive results.

Why You Need To Trust Your Intuition

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
Alan Alda

Trust is a big word that most people aren’t willing to embrace. Are you ready to trust your intuition? Are you ready to get the kind of results you’ve been missing in your life?

It’s time to start trusting your intuition to do more for your life than its doing now. The majority of people are living life on autopilot. The get up in the morning, go to work, come home, eat and then go to sleep. It’s the same day-to-day life that stifles both creativity and intuition.

Here’s an experiment you can start today that will jumpstart your intuition and get you moving in the right direction.

  1. If a thought comes to you, go with it – See where it takes you. Maybe it’s leading you to a new contact, new job or opportunity that you’ve been looking for.
  2. Listen to your dreams – What are your dreams telling you? Is there a problem that is bothering you and you don’t have the answer? Let your dreams work it out. Give the responsibility to your dreams and take the pressure and stress off of your own shoulders.
  3. Stop doing the same old thing day after day – Many times, your intuition and dreams are telling you they need to have both space and activity. A stifled personality becomes bored easily and I know you don’t want that!

The time is now to break out of old habits and allow your intuition to expand your world. Live life, not by the seat of your pants but by the wings God has given you. See life for all the possibilities it offers. When you get in touch with your intuition, strange things start to happen in your life. Happiness starts to pervade your personality, things get done quicker and without as much hassle, your decisions get better and you start walking along the path that has been set aside for you by God.

Your intuition is a powerful force that you must use to your advantage. Learn how to open both your heart and mind to what you are capable of. Only then will your intuition be your guiding light on your journey through life.

What Dealing With Depression Taught Me About Finding Real Happiness

dealing with depression

Are You Dealing With Depression?

“That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.”
Elizabeth Wurtzel

Ever felt like you were scattered all over the place and could never get yourself together? That was me for a long period of time in my life before I found the path to real happiness. I fought the depression the best I could but the harder I fought the more scattered I felt.

What happens when you’re in the throes of depression and you can’t get yourself out?

What do you do when you you feel hopeless?

For many people, this is what they have to go through every day and it isn’t a pretty picture. Hopelessness isn’t just a feeling but the world they are engulfed in and like me, the harder they fight the further they fall. I don’t want you to be depression’s next victim so pay close attention and have faith. There is a way out and there is hope… you just have to believe in yourself.

A Short History of Depression

From Visually.

How To Break Your Depression Not Your Will

“Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and oftentimes, we call a man cold when he is only sad.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

feeling depressed

No matter how far depression has dragged you away from the real you, hope comes in the form of reconditioning your mind so that depression doesn’t control you, you control your depression.

My breakthrough came when I switched my thought process. I failed in every way possible to combat my depression except one simple way. Re-engineering the way my mind worked. I figured, if my mind was the one that was causing me to feel this way then changing my mind would change my feelings as well.

It may seem simple enough but it isn’t like turning on a switch and everything is all candy and roses. It’s much more complicated and scarier than that but it’s something that must be done. The difference between feeling depressed and overcoming it is all in the mind.

Tony Robbins, the self-help guru states the first thing you must do is to live in a beautiful state. So what does that mean? It means your state of mind must change. It must exist in a whole new place where you change the way you see things and the way you view yourself.

It means you change your body language and how you appear to others. You go from feeling inferior and negative to strong and confident because you initiate a change of habit. You stop tolerating what makes you unhappy, you stop tolerating what causes you pain and you stop tolerating how you act based on the negative words coming out of your mouth.

Instead of living in your pain and emotional upheavals, you train your mind and your body to work on the good things in your life. We’ve wired ourselves to see, hear and feel the negativity all around us that we’ve become that negative person without really knowing it until we’ve fallen face first into a hole and can’t get out.

He goes on to say that we need to avoid training our minds to be frustrated, stressed out and unhappy. That’s not a place you want to live in. Instead, you can train your mind to feel passionate about your life, to feel physically and mentally strong. He cautions us by stating emphatically, “Don’t settle. You get what you tolerate.”

Later on, he goes on to say, “Find something you want to serve greater than yourself.” That was a very valuable lesson I learned when I heard him speak. I found a purpose greater than myself and put that to work to help me see beyond my own pain and serve others who were in need.

Do you want to stay in state you are in now? According to Tony, “LIfe is too short to feel like crap.” I hated that feeling. I hated waking up unhappy and going to bed unhappy. I wanted to change but I didn’t know how. Tony showed me a pathway to happiness that I needed to choose and this is how I did it.

From Depressed & Hopeless To Happy & Excited About Life

“It’s often difficult for those who are lucky enough to have never experienced what true depression is to imagine a life of complete hopelessness, emptiness and fear.”
Susan Polis Schutz

My breakthrough came when I reconditioned my thought pattern. I started feeding my brain a new story about who I knew I was. The pattern started slow with a new routine but I picked up momentum everyday and saw hope come into view.

So how do you do this? How do you start dealing with depression in a way that energizes you and gives you a reason to get up every morning?

You find your why? You find why you are here and you run with it. It’s not about pleasing others or worrying about what they think. It’s all about what’s right for you. It comes from being the authentic you.

You need to be hungry. Find that hunger inside of you and let it push you where you need to go. Raise your standards in yourself. Don’t settle for mediocrity. I didn’t and you shouldn’t either. Every time you settle for things you don’t want you lose a small piece of yourself. Push yourself to be the best you can no matter what. It’s the drive and the journey… not the end that merits you go for it!

Tony says, “The quality of your life is where you live emotionally.” Find the home inside of you and then change your habits. Feed your mind what is good and honest. Feed your heart what is pure and humble. Make learning an important part of your daily ritual. Lifelong learners stimulate the creative part of their brains and enjoy the process of learning. The happiness comes from soaking in all that knowledge.

Most people who are depressed lived from a place of fear. Tony reiterates this by claiming, Fear is physical and so is stagnation, so is numbness, and so is sadness.”  You need to face your fears and truly live. See what you are capable by finding a role model who inspires you. That’s how you go from a place without hope to a place where happiness is alive and well.

The Mindshift Of True Potential

my potential

Do you know your true potential? You won’t know unless you give it a try. Before you can achieve things in reality, you must believe them in your mind first. This is the key to overcoming your depression and finding true happiness in life. Everything you want to do or accomplish in life must first be seen and done in your mind. Let it happened first there. Work out the kinks and see the promise that potential brings!

This mind shift from the throes of negativity to the path of belief comes from the potential you feel you have and the action you take. If your belief doesn’t equal your potential then your actions will only go as far as your limited beliefs. Whatever you don’t accomplish will reinforce your limiting beliefs and you will never reach your full potential. It becomes self-fulfilling when you fail.

Everyone comes to a point in their life where their back is against the wall and they have to survive no matter what. There is no other way. This is when you either sink or swim and decide you’ll do anything possible to succeed. You have to make this work. It is being certain of your potential and then taking massive and direct action because you know you will succeed.

Tony asks this one final question. “How do you produce certainty when the world isn’t giving it to you?” You get the results in your head first and then certainty comes as if it has already happened. If you know it in your mind that what you will do is a certainty and will succeed do it. The universe will follow the directions you give it.

There are going to be times in your life when fear and gloom may try to take over during a major situation but if you remember the times when you overcame those hopelessness, deconstruct what you did before and use that as incentive to pull you through. The past is very good at giving you what you need to overcome your problems. They are like practice swings in baseball and today you will hit it out of the park!

Happiness is not something you get, it is something deep inside that you fully embrace! Once your perspective changes you will find meaning in your life. Perspective, no matter how small, can change things forever. Take that new perspective, build on it in your mind and take it to new heights. That is truly where you will succeed and see happiness blossom.

Dealing with depression was a hard and grueling adventure but it taught me how to train my mind, how to believe in myself and how strong a person I really am. What can it teach you?
