Tapping Into Your Intuition
“Intuition is seeing with the soul.”
Ever felt the pangs of something deep inside telling you what you must do when you have to make a tough decision? A gut instinct that you can’t quite understand but follow anyway? This is called intuition. The way to tap into your intuition is to listen to the authentic self that goes far beyond normal rationalization and directly follow where it takes you.
Do you ever listen to that little voice inside your head that keeps popping up or do you push it away and look for answers somewhere else then realize you should have gone with that first thought? Every day, we make thousands of decisions that affect what we eat, where we go and how we think yet we never think about trusting our own decisions to our innate intuition.
Intuition taps into your subconscious mind and validates your thoughts. You may not remember what you saw, heard or felt from the past but it all registers in the deep recesses of your mind. When decisions are to be made, our mind goes back into those recesses to bring up these long lost observations to see if they are valid or not. When they are, they are automatically chosen and fed into the decision making process.
Sometimes, it’s a feeling that we go on with but despite our rationality, most times intuition is right on target. Many of the great thinkers of the world, from Isaac Newton to Albert Einstein have said it’s our most valuable asset. It’s really all about immediately understanding something without conscious reasoning.
That’s key here because if we think like a computer, we take out the human element that makes us unique. It comes from real life experiences that give us recognizable truths that are ready to be revealed. There’s nothing like real world experience that can open up areas of thought you never knew existed.
How To Trust Your Instincts In All Matters
How often do you make bad decisions? Have you thought long and hard about it or did you make a snap decision? Science has found that most of the time our snap judgments come from gut instinct and usually steer us in the right direction.
Our hearts may tell us one thing but the gut feelings usually have the edge.
Why is this?
It’s all based on our basic instincts. Things we know to be true but cannot prove.
When you were a kid, you did everything on instinct. If you thought too much about what you were doing, you either stopped doing it, made mistakes while you were doing it or got bored real quick. When you trust your instincts, it usually means you’re on the right track.
How many times have you made a tough decision and then slapped yourself when it came out wrong because you didn’t go with your gut instincts? It happens all the time. Your brain has it own way of reasoning and when you leave it to do its job, it usually does a very good job but too much analysis and too many edits triggers the stress levels. When you don’t trust your intuition bad things can happen.
This is when you make bad decisions based on bad data because you can’t think straight. Don’t let the brain’s protective and control side to take over unless it’s a problem that needs time, space and energy to commit to. Logic is one thing but all logic comes from experience and that is what helps you make the tough decisions when you need to make one.
Athletes run on instinct because it takes too long to analyze things in the moment. Take a clue from them and learn to go with your gut instinct… go with what it’s telling you to do.
How do you trust your instincts?
When change and uncertainty come into our life, we go into panic mode but the unconscious is always working, always looking for opportunities that we don’t see consciously. Most decisions we make are not life-threatening so our instincts don’t really need to kick in but intuition or “the sixth sense” needs to be exercised in such a way as to keep you alert.
Decisions come and go but if we hesitate for just a second then we question our intuition, we lose out on perfectly good chance to make a good decision that takes us down the pathway to happiness. It’s those times when we lose awareness of things around us that we second guess our instincts.
Ever had that funny feeling something doesn’t feel right but you laugh it off and then find out you were right all along?
Most people could learn a lesson from their intuition. We could save a lot of heartache in life if we let our subconscious mind make those type of decisions for us without being second-guessed. Too often, people make bad decisions where they get ripped off, injured or are taken advantage because they overthink things to the point where they have no idea how to make any type of decision at all.
How often has mistrust of your basic instincts cost you in the past? Either professionally, personally, financially or even physically?
Intuition is like a compass that we use to guide us in life. If you live in fear then your intuition is blocked. Every time we anticipate things that go wrong or try to guard against any perceived danger we push our instincts aside and let fear take over.
What has fear done to your intuition?
Following Your Intuition
“When you reach the end of what you should know, you will be at the beginning of what you should sense.”
Our intuition is based upon our core beliefs. Those values by which we live and breathe by. They are formed by our environment and families as we grow but circumstances throw a wrench into our daily plans. When it comes time to make the tough decisions you must allow your intuition to have a say. Get in touch with your emotions and embrace your inner self. That inner self will help you as intuition comes from the right hemisphere of the brain which controls the non-verbal and expressive part.
What happens when you hang onto things you don’t need? You put a cover over understanding, clarity and compassion. You see things not as they are but as you want to see them. This stifles creativity which is where intuition lives.
Are you distracted? Do you seek things that don’t help you? It’s time to stop running away from life and get involved. The cognitive side is the rational part of the brain. What you need to do is pay attention to your dreams. They are fueling your intuition but you are ignoring that part of your brain function.
Combining our dreams with our emotional side is a secret most people are not privy to. They think it’s easier to use one or the other but you’re only getting half the picture.
Ever play hunches? Maybe you feel like something is about to happen. Many times these hunches come in dreams or a dreamstate but if you push off the emotional side and go logically you’re missing a big piece of the puzzle.
Follow your intuition to it’s logical conclusion and you will see positive results.
Why You Need To Trust Your Intuition
“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
Trust is a big word that most people aren’t willing to embrace. Are you ready to trust your intuition? Are you ready to get the kind of results you’ve been missing in your life?
It’s time to start trusting your intuition to do more for your life than its doing now. The majority of people are living life on autopilot. The get up in the morning, go to work, come home, eat and then go to sleep. It’s the same day-to-day life that stifles both creativity and intuition.
Here’s an experiment you can start today that will jumpstart your intuition and get you moving in the right direction.
- If a thought comes to you, go with it – See where it takes you. Maybe it’s leading you to a new contact, new job or opportunity that you’ve been looking for.
- Listen to your dreams – What are your dreams telling you? Is there a problem that is bothering you and you don’t have the answer? Let your dreams work it out. Give the responsibility to your dreams and take the pressure and stress off of your own shoulders.
- Stop doing the same old thing day after day – Many times, your intuition and dreams are telling you they need to have both space and activity. A stifled personality becomes bored easily and I know you don’t want that!
The time is now to break out of old habits and allow your intuition to expand your world. Live life, not by the seat of your pants but by the wings God has given you. See life for all the possibilities it offers. When you get in touch with your intuition, strange things start to happen in your life. Happiness starts to pervade your personality, things get done quicker and without as much hassle, your decisions get better and you start walking along the path that has been set aside for you by God.
Your intuition is a powerful force that you must use to your advantage. Learn how to open both your heart and mind to what you are capable of. Only then will your intuition be your guiding light on your journey through life.
